When you’re planning a wedding, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the shiny, exciting bits. The dress. The venue. The flowers you’ve been obsessively saving on Pinterest for months. The cute little details that make your day feel special and totally you. But here’s the thing, what often gets forgotten is how all of those pieces actually come together on the day. And trust us, that’s where the magic, or the stress, happens. This is where a wedding coordinator really shines.

Honestly, it’s one of those things couples don’t always realise they need… until they do. And then afterwards, it’s the thing they say they couldn’t have done without. Seriously, ask anyone who’s been there, they’ll probably tell you it’s worth every penny and then some.

Hiring a wedding coordinator isn’t about going over the top or handing over control. It’s about feeling supported, looked after, and actually being able to enjoy your wedding. Properly. From the planning right through to the last dance.

Venue: Old Sessions House

“they were absolutely brilliant… Hannah and Chloe went above and beyond to make sure we were as comfortable and happy as possible”

What’s the difference between a wedding planner and a coordinator?

A wedding planner and a wedding coordinator play very different roles, and understanding the difference can really help when deciding what support you need.

A wedding planner is involved from the very beginning, guiding you through the entire planning journey. They help shape your vision, manage your budget, source and liaise with your suppliers, and support you with decisions along the way.

A wedding coordinator steps in much closer to the wedding day, usually around one month beforehand. Their focus is on taking everything you’ve planned and making sure it runs exactly as it should. They manage the timings, liaise with and greet suppliers, oversee the day’s logistics, and handle anything that pops up on the day, so you’re not answering questions or problem-solving while you should be enjoying every moment.

Venue: Hampton Court House

Planning a wedding is exciting… but it can also feel like a lot

Like, a lot, a lot! Let’s be honest, wedding planning can quite literally take over your life. One minute you’re buzzing about colour schemes, favours, and ceremony ideas, and the next you’re juggling emails, contracts, timings, and a never-ending to-do list. Cue panic!

A wedding coordinator helps bring it all back to calm. We help you organise your plans in a way that feels manageable, not overwhelming. You still make all the decisions, still choose everything you love, but you’re not doing it alone. There’s someone there to support you, keep you on track, and gently remind you it’s all going to be okay.

Your wedding day should feel calm, not rushed

One of the biggest worries couples share is that the day will fly by, or that they’ll feel stressed and pulled in a million directions, answering calls, sorting last-minute things, or even getting ready in a whirl of chaos. And it’s a totally valid worry.

With a wedding coordinator, you don’t need to watch the clock, think about what’s next, or dash around trying to make everything happen yourself. We’re quietly running the day in the background, making sure it all flows naturally. If something needs tweaking, we handle it. If someone has a question, they come to us.

You get to stay exactly where you should be, present, relaxed, and soaking up every moment. And honestly? That feeling alone is worth every penny.

V & H Photography

Your friends and family get to relax too

We hear it all the time: “Oh my mum is going to do that,” or “My bridesmaids will handle this.” And while it’s offered with the best intentions, it often leaves your loved ones juggling jobs instead of actually enjoying the day. Even the most reliable people can find it tricky once the excitement and emotion really kick in.

With a coordinator, your family and friends can just be themselves. Your mum isn’t worrying about timings, your best friend isn’t fielding questions, and no one is scrambling to fix last-minute hiccups. Everyone gets to celebrate with you, exactly as it should be.

Marianne Chua Photography

We’re thinking about the things you don’t even see

Weddings rarely run exactly to plan, and that’s completely normal. The difference is having someone who knows how to deal with it calmly and quietly. A wedding coordinator is always thinking a few steps ahead. If something needs adjusting, we do it without fuss. Most of the time, couples don’t even notice anything needed sorting, and honestly, that’s the goal. You stay relaxed, your guests stay happy, and the day keeps flowing. (Pro tip: this is the stuff that makes your wedding actually feel effortless in photos and memories.)

Your ideas deserve to be brought to life properly

You’ve spent so much time imagining how your wedding will look and feel, not just the pretty details, but the atmosphere, the timing, and those little moments you’ve been dreaming about.

A coordinator makes sure your plans are understood and carried out exactly as you hoped. Everyone involved knows what’s happening and when, so your vision doesn’t get lost. It’s not about taking over, it’s about protecting what matters to you.

Venue: AMP Studios

The final weeks feel so much easier

Those last few weeks before the wedding can feel super intense, even if you’ve been really organised. Suddenly, there are more questions, more details to confirm, final decisions to make, and more things to think about. Cue stress levels rising.

Having a wedding coordinator during this time is such a relief. You know someone experienced has looked over everything, and nothing important has been missed. You’re not second-guessing yourself or lying awake at night worrying. Instead, you can start getting excited, which is exactly how it should feel.

“We worked with Chloe for day of coordination who was the best decision we made for our wedding.”

How much does a wedding coordinator cost?

Having a wedding coordinator is an investment in how your day feels. When couples look back on their wedding, they rarely remember every tiny detail. They remember how they felt, calm, happy, excited, and fully present. A wedding coordinator protects that feeling.

We take care of the logistics so you can focus on the moments that matter, the hugs, the laughs, the happy tears, and the celebration. That’s why so many couples say it was the best investment they made.

For most weddings with us, on the day coordination usually sits between £1,750 and £2,500. In the context of an overall wedding budget, it’s a relatively small part, but the impact is felt throughout the entire day. It’s not just about someone running the schedule, it’s about having the space to enjoy your wedding without worrying about what’s happening next.

Because you only get to experience it once. Your wedding day isn’t a practice run. You don’t get a do-over. It deserves your full attention, not your stress.

Having a wedding coordinator means you can let go, trust the plan, and truly enjoy your day. You can be present, knowing someone is taking care of everything behind the scenes. And that, more than anything else, is what makes it all so special.

Venue: Flore House

What is the role of a wedding coordinator?

We manage the logistics and the details behind the scenes. We make sure the day runs smoothly, acting as the main point of contact for your suppliers and ensuring everything runs to schedule. A wedding coordinator also helps pre-empt the little things that can happen on the day, often before you even realise there was ever a potential hiccup. Most couples only plan one wedding in their lifetime, so everything is new. Even if you’re an event planner or project manager in everyday life, weddings are a whole different world.

Managing weddings is what we do day in, day out. It’s in our DNA. We know where things can wobble, what questions might pop up, and what needs thinking about in advance. So rather than risking it or trying to handle it all yourself, it just makes sense to trust someone who truly knows what they’re doing. That way, you can let go, relax, and properly enjoy your wedding day, exactly as it was meant to be enjoyed.

(Seriously, it’s the difference between enjoying a glass of champagne with your girls in the morning and running around fixing things in your rollers.)

If you want your wedding to feel relaxed, well looked after, and full of joy from start to finish, hiring a wedding coordinator really is one of the kindest things you can do for yourselves.

What a year for “I do’s”! From secret elopements to over-the-top soirées, some of our favourite celebs truly outdid themselves. Whether it was multi-day extravaganzas or spontaneous vows, 2025 delivered an incredible line-up of weddings! More wedding inspo than we could possibly pin to a mood board! Ready to dive into the most breathtaking, buzz-worthy celebrations of the year? Here’s our look back at some of our favourite celebrity weddings of 2025!

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Jeff-Bezos-768x1024.webp" alt="bride and groom

Where else could we possibly begin but with what was arguably the most extravagant celebrity wedding of the 2025?! Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez said their vows during a lavish, three-day celebration in Venice. Their ceremony took place on the breathtaking island of San Giorgio Maggiore, which the couple hired exclusively for the occasion. Naturally, the guest list was a who’s who of global powerhouses, with icons like Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates reportedly in attendance.

Lauren Sánchez stole the show in a couture gown adorned with 180 silk chiffon–covered priest buttons, a dress fit for a royal wedding. Yet perhaps the most jaw-dropping detail of all was the wedding cake which was crafted by the legendary Parisian pastry mastermind Cédric Grolet. Rumour has it the cake might be the most expensive wedding cake ever created – we can only imagine!

Becca Bloom and David Pownall

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="666" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Becca-Bloom-666x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and groom

TikTok sensation Rebecca Ma – known online as Becca Bloom – married software engineer David Pownall in a wedding that looked straight out of a modern fairytale. Set against the dreamy backdrop of Lake Como, their summer celebration gave undeniable Crazy Rich Asians energy, combining whimsical romance with jaw-dropping luxury.

The ceremony featured spectacular towering floral installations, a mirrored aisle reflecting the shimmering lake views and spectacular bursts of colourful smoke cannons that transformed the setting into something almost cinematic. Even the rain, because, of course, Lake Como loves a dramatic moment couldn’t dull the magic. If anything, it added to the atmosphere, making for photos so beautiful they’ll likely serve as huge wedding inspo for years to come.

Georgia Toffolo and James Watt

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Georgia-Toffolo-1024x576.webp" alt="bride and groom

From lavish floral arrangements to supermarket daffodils, Georgia Toffolo’s wedding plans and comments caused quite the stir. If any celebrity wedding 2025 gave us a wedding with personality, it was this one! Georgia Toffolo’s big day sparked headlines, memes and admiration in equal measure. The reality star kept things spontaneous, reportedly telling guests to join only “if you can get here within 48 hours.” From there, the chaos and the charm began.

On her way to the ceremony, she allegedly grabbed supermarket daffodils to use as flowers, and her cake was rumoured to be a last-minute DIY creation. The photos the couple shared were wonderfully unconventional: the groom wearing fishing waders and Georgia posing in a cream, off-the-shoulder fleece while clutching freshly caught lobsters. The result? A celebration that felt refreshingly authentic, quirky and full of personality. But we absolutely adore this playful take on a very traditional day.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco said “I do” in a beautifully intimate California ceremony this September. The couple both wore custom Ralph Lauren ensembles, blending timeless elegance with effortless modern romance. Their guest list was, unsurprisingly full of music icons with Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran reportedly giving speeches during their celebration.

And if the speeches weren’t iconic enough, the ring bearer was none other than Martin Short. Yes, that Martin Short. The blend of classic style, star-studded storytelling, and celebrity sparkle made their wedding truly unforgettable.

Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="829" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Dani-Dyer-829x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and groom

In May, Dani Dyer and footballer Jarrod Bowen tied the knot at the stunning Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire. Their celebration oozed elegance, intimacy and was a true family affair. One of the most touching details? Dani’s father, Danny Dyer, walking her proudly down the aisle. Their children served as flower girls and page boy and the photos are absolutely stunning!

The dreamy white Hydrangeas and roses helped created a hugely romantic vibe and the dreamy outdoor scenery gave the event an almost Bridgerton-esque charm – we are obsessed! This absolutely picturesque wedding is one we will remember for a long time.

Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="932" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Kristen-Stewart--932x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and bride

Kristen Stewart and screenwriter Dylan Meyer opted for something entirely different and entirely them. The couple married over Easter weekend in an ultra-private celebration that unfolded partly at their Los Angeles home and partly at their favourite Mexican restaurant. The vibe? Relaxed, heartfelt, and effortlessly cool.

The wedding looks were some of the trendiest of the year: a sheer silk mini dress paired with a chic tweed set. No veils, no bouquets, and no bridesmaids just authenticity, comfort, and style. It’s the kind of wedding that proves simplicity can be just as striking as extravagance. This wedding could not have suited them as a couple more!

Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Demi-Lovato-819x1024.webp" alt="bride and groom

From one California celebration to another! Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes embraced full glamour, wearing not one but three spectacular outfits throughout their Santa Barbara wedding weekend. Demi stunned in two custom Vivienne Westwood gowns before changing into a tailored Lapointe suit that turned heads.

Their wedding included a rehearsal dinner, a romantic ceremony, and arguably the highlight being a special live performance by The Goo Goo Dolls. The couple’s first dance was choreographed and performed live by the band, making the moment unforgettable.

The Sex and the City star married her longtime partner in an intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall. Just 12 guests attended the beautifully private celebration. The bride stunned in a classic Dior suit perfectly suited to the venue, while her new husband looked dapper in a custom Richard James design.

Reflecting on their relationship, Sarah once said, “We’ve been together almost 10 years now, and we’ve had a blast.” The couple first met in 2016 when she appeared on BBC Radio 4 and they clearly never looked back. A heart-warming love story to end a year of fabulous weddings!

Sophie and Rhys

And we had to save a special mention for one of our very own! This year, Sophie from our team married her now-husband Rhys at the enchanting Lapstone Barn in the Cotswolds. Their countryside celebration was the epitome of fairytale romance, complete with breathtaking florals, twinkling fairy lights and subtle touches of Disney magic woven throughout.

After getting engaged on April Fools’ Day we are so happy to see the pair start their happily ever after! Surrounded by close family and friends this was a true love story come to life and we can’t wait to see more countryside fairytale weddings like this!

We are nearing the end of 2025, which means we are all talking 2026 wedding trends! Couples are looking out for the next hot thing to have at their wedding, which I am sure is why you are here too! Some trends fade quietly, others reshape the industry entirely. But 2026 is shaping up to be a standout year because couples are leaning into something which I love to see and ALWAYS encourage – doing things their way. Less performance, more personality. Less ‘should’, more soul.

If you’re planning a 2026 wedding, here are the key shifts we’re seeing and how they’re influencing the way we design, plan and celebrate!

Red & Burgundy Colour Schemes

Burgundy is having a real moment in winter 2025! And we are seeing this trend of red tones moving through into 2026 weddings, but not always in the sense of a full red palette. It’s appearing as subtle, elegant accents that add a slight nod to this colour scheme. A red ribbon tied around a napkin, a pair of burgundy shoes peeking out beneath the dress, a red lip, a raspberry cocktail garnish, a single deep crimson rose within a neutral bouquet. We are seeing red pared with pale yellow, white, green tones, and we are also seeing full red and burgundy statement flower pieces, pared with black tie outfits – even in summer! Red makes for a bold statement – we love it!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="823" height="878" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot-2025-11-24-at-12.55.25-pm.png" alt="moodboard

Requests for blow-drys

Bridal beauty is continuing its journey away from structured, ‘done’ looks. In 2026, a trend we are seeing is brides wanting to look like themselves, just at their very possible best. Hair worn down, half-down, or softly waved creates an effortless, romantic feel. Makeup is natural, glowing and skin-focused. The overall look is “I just look like this,” rather than “I spent 3 hours on this.” The bouncy blow-dry is most definitely in right now, with the evolution of blow dry stylers and tools, and brides are also embracing it. It’s confident, real and timeless.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="673" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/IMG_0267-673x1024.jpeg" alt="bride

Multi-Day Celebrations

A single wedding day can go by so quickly, and couples are realising that the best moments often happen around the wedding day, whether it’s at the welcome party, the late-night kitchen chat, the slow breakfast the morning after, or during their post wedding afternoon drinks. So instead of one whirlwind day, 2026 is all about multi-day celebrations. Guests arrive the day before for a relaxed welcome dinner or cocktail evening, enjoy a pool party or brunch the day after, and really settle into the experience. It gives space, joy, connection, and importantly, time to actually be with the people you love. It saves those long conversations during the wedding day when you just want to dance, and saying goodbye at the end of the evening, when you ALSO just want to dance! Pulling a couple away from enjoying their band is no mean feat!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/FineshadeStudios-1460499-1024x683.jpg" alt="multi day wedding

Pool Parties and Laid-Back Brunches

As we just mentioned, weekend-style weddings are most definitely a trend right now. I feel this has come from European weddings, but for couples who still want to stay in the UK but have this full weekend experience, like you get abroad, but without the stress of flights.

One of the most popular things we are seeing is a post wedding day event. We’re seeing relaxed poolside gatherings, Aperol spritzes under the sun, linen outfits, and playlists that feel like summer holidays. The following morning, instead of rushing off, couples host casual brunches where everyone can debrief, laugh about the dance floor moments, and enjoy pastries and iced coffees in sunglasses and comfy clothes. Couples are going all out, with a different colour scheme, think bright pinks, lime greens and lemon yellows, with bold linen and centre pieces. It’s like their creative, bold side has taken over, but they want to keep their wedding day sophisticated and timeless! Food wise, it’s all about the brunch grazing style station, with bagel and smoked salmon, alongside a good bit of bacon and of course – mimosas and bloody Marys!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="800" height="534" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/b057c69c-736a-423e-969a-83a4e3ccdf80-1.jpg" alt="pool party

Menus That Reflect The Couple

Wedding food is no longer an afterthought or something chosen simply because it’s expected. Food is emotional, cultural and nostalgic, and couples want that reflected. They also want their guests to walk away from their wedding, never forgetting how good the food was! We’re seeing trends of shared feasting platters at weddings, beautiful family-style dishes inspired by their upbringings, and menus inspired by places couples have travelled to. Couples are wanting something ‘different’ from the standard wedding caterer. Think Asian fusion, mezze feasts, pasta served in big steaming bowls, raw seafood bars, fresh wood-fired pizzas and vibrant, colourful plates. Couples want their guests to think ‘that is so them!’ Have a favourite Turkish restaurant you eat at regularly? Our couples are wanting places like this, that mean something to them, to cater for their weddings.

Top tip: although you may have a fave restaurant who are willing to cater for your wedding, make sure they do have large event/wedding catering experience as it’sa very different kettle of fish to catering at a restaurant! Having a marquee? Again, make sure they have marquee experience, as this is an even more difficult request for caterers.

Speeches from Friends

Speeches are shifting too. More couples are inviting their closest friends to speak alongside family, or instead of family altogether. Friends often know the everyday relationship stories that make people laugh and cry. I mean, friends know all our embarrassing stories, right?! The result is speeches that feel warm and deeply personal, rather than formal or traditional. It’s storytelling about you as a couple at its most genuine.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="672" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/IMG_0269-1024x672.jpeg" alt="wedding speech

Skipping the Wedding Party

Lots of couples are choosing to not have traditional wedding parties entirely, it’s definitely a trend we are seeing for 2026! There’s much less focus on matching dresses or who stands where, and instead a more relaxed approach where friends simply support you naturally. They might still get ready with you, be part of your morning, have a group photo with you, just without the labels and responsibilities. It helps couples to not have to worry about who is having special titles, and making others feel not as important. Adding titles can also cause stress and upset. We find wedding party fall outs to be a common theme!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="696" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/IMG_0268-696x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and groom

Furniture Trends

Furniture is definitely becoming a wedding trend in 2026. 2026 is all about thoughtful details, rather than feeling generic. Couples want are requesting lounge areas that feel like a beautifully designed living room, rather than rental pieces lined up in rows. They want lounge furniture, that is not also great for elder guests to sit on for example, but also to look great in photos. We’re talking curved sofas, rattan areas and traditional chesterfields.

Couples are also trying to move away from the standard offering of Chiavari chairs and matching their furniture to their décor. We are even getting requests where couples are moving away from the standard round or long tables. We are talking mix matching between the two options, or some are even talking curved, caterpillar style tables, which we don’t think are always logistically the best! You definitely seat less guests – but if you want this look, it’s an option!

2026 trends are all about creating spaces that invite guests to settle in, relax and enjoy the atmosphere rather than simply pass through.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/69-AP2A2353-1024x683.jpg" alt="wedding venue

Live Music and Entertainment

Live music is back, and in the most joyful way. Brass bands that parade guests from ceremony to reception, gospel choirs creating atmosphere during drinks, saxophonists weaving through the dance floor at midnight, bands that are performing not only in the evening, but also in the daytime. Couples in 2026 want music that is immersive and emotional. These also want to leave no gap in the day without entertainment. These performances fill the air in a way no playlist ever can.

Entertainment is also a big thing. We aren’t just seeing your garden games! We are seeing couples hire in full mini golf courses, performers such as dancers, stilt walkers, drag acts and fortune tellers. Even additions to the day such as a backdrop where you ring a bell for a prosecco and a hand pops out with your glass of bubbly! It’s all about being interactive in 2026!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="678" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/IMG_0270-1024x678.jpeg" alt="wedding music

The Biggest Trend of All: Couples Who Know Themselves

The most important shift we’re seeing is couples making decisions based on who they are. They’re no longer trying to impress, perform or replicate something from Instagram. They’re choosing meaningful details and investing in experiences over aesthetics. Their weddings feel grounded, joyful, thoughtful and truly personal. And honestly, it’s the most beautiful thing to witness. These are most definitely my favourite weddings!

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s anything but ordinary (and who isn’t hey?!) why not say “I do” at an iconic UK visitor attraction? From historic castles and grand museums to enchanting gardens and even theme parks! There’s no shortage of unforgettable venues where you can celebrate your big day. We often hear couples and guests say, “wow, didn’t even know you could get married here!”, so now we are here to help you turn one of your fave spots into your dream wedding venue!

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens offers stunning glasshouse settings for weddings, from the Temperate House to the Nash Conservatory that can accommodate up to 200 guests. Kew delivers year-round botanical beauty – ideal for couples after a unique visitor attraction wedding in the UK plus your mode of transport can include a golf buggy to whip you around the grounds for photos – how cool! Notably, Fearne Cotton and Jesse Wood held their wedding reception at the Orangery.

Warwick Castle

Warwick Castle is a fairytale setting offering licensed rooms for ceremonies from 20 to around 180 guests. Options range from medieval-style chambers to outdoor marquees on castle lawns. Packages often include access to towers for photography and evening entertainment. With nearly 1,000 years of ultimate history, it’s one of the UK’s most iconic visitor-attraction wedding venues.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Warwick-Castle.jpeg" alt="Warwick castle

Bodleian Libraries

This venue is a firm favourite of ours, offering incredible wedding settings like Convocation House and the Divinity School – both licensed for civil ceremonies! As one of Europe’s oldest libraries, and part of the University of Oxford, the Bodleian is incredibly prestigious, and equally just such a beautiful space for a wedding, holding up to 200 guests. Your reception will then be held in the stunning Divinity school, which has such a wow factor, after a drink’s reception fit for any king or queen in the Quadrangle. The venue is even featured in the Harry Potter! What’s more to love?! It is a hugely atmospheric and one of kind wedding venue! And don’t forget those iconic wedding photos outside the Wren Door and under the Bridge Of Sighs!

When you think about wedding planning or even just attending a wedding, you probably picture a big white frosted cake, stacked high with flowers or designed like something you screenshotted on Pinterest in 2015. But have you ever stopped to wonder why do we even have a wedding cakes? Where did that tradition come from? And who’s still saving the top- tier for their baby’s christening?

Let’s look at what’s trending in 2025 and get real honest: do we even need a cake?

Let’s slice into it (sorry, had to).

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3382 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-LAURENDITIE359-683x1024.jpg" alt="White Wedding cake, with gold foil.

Why Do We Have Wedding Cakes Anyway?

Wedding cakes have been a thing for a very long time. Back to Ancient Rome, instead of cutting a cake, they’d break a loaf of barley bread over the bride’s head for luck. Romantic, right? Nothing says true love like a carb-based concussion.

Then in Medieval times, people would stack pastries into a tower, very me, and if the couple could kiss over it without knocking it down, it was said to bring good fortune! A high-stakes pastry Jenga, you could say!

Fast forward to royalty and the upper classes, who went all in on tiered, sugar-loaded, flamboyant cakes displaying a sign of wealth and fortune. And now? We still love a good tradition, and cake is definitely one of them! Whether it’s fancy, low key or gluten-free, you’re pretty much guaranteed cake at a wedding.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3383 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-JRP_EM_1574-683x1024.jpg" alt="Doughnut Tower, wedding.
Why Cakes Are Still a Big Deal?

There’s just something about a wedding cake that just makes it feel official. Even if you’re not big on sweets, the act of cutting the cake together is kind of iconic. It’s a part of the day, and it’s symbolic of your first “task” as a married couple, and let’s be honest, it’s the tastiest one. .

Historically, cakes were linked to fertility and prosperity. The white icing was once a status symbol because refined sugar was expensive. Today it’s more about celebration, tradition, and that one part of the night where everyone gathers around, phones out, waiting for you to stab a cake with a giant knife. Beautiful.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="679" class="wp-image-3384 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-AbiCharlie-FILM-6-1024x679.jpg" alt="Bride and Groom, Cake Cutting, Wedding.
Wedding Cake Trends We’re Loving In 2025

This year is full of beautiful cake inspiration, and we are loving what we are seeing.

Pressed flowers and botanical designs are still in, made with edible petals pressed into buttercream to create a soft, romantic garden vibe..

Big (and we mean big), bold single tier cakes, topped with fresh fruit, are making a serious statement, and they look especially dramatic when cut with a sword..

Mini, one per guest cakes these are really cute and so easy to serve, especially if using your cake as dessert (more on that in a bit).

Flavour-wise, we’re seeing lots of couples branching out. Pistachio and rose, chai spice, lemon and lavender are all having a moment. Of course, red velvet and chocolate are still firm favourites, but it’s great to see people getting more adventurous.

Sustainability is also key. Couples are opting for local ingredients, minimal waste, and choosing to work with bakeries that take an eco-friendly approach.

And best of all, we’re seeing a rise in inclusive baking. That means cakes without eggs, butter or gluten, that still taste amazing and look absolutely stunning. Guests with dietary requirements don’t have to miss out, and nothing has to be hidden away “out the back” anymore.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3387 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-radikaandash-0925-683x1024.jpg" alt="Bride and Groom, cake cutting with sword.
Fineshades Studios

But What If You Don’t Want a Big Cake?

Honestly, you’re not alone. More and more couples are skipping the traditional tiered cake and choosing something that feels more personal to them.

Doughnuts are having a serious moment. Whether displayed on a wall or stacked in towers, they’re fun, tasty, and super easy to serve.

Cupcakes continue to be a classic choice. They’re cute, completely customisable with flavours and decorations, and can be styled to look just as striking as a traditional cake.

Macarons are another favourite. A pyramid of perfectly coloured macarons is both beautiful and delicious—and they photograph like a dream.

One option we can’t get enough of is the dessert grazing table. Think macarons, mini cakes, cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels and all the sweet treats you can imagine. It’s a real showstopper and gives your guests plenty of variety.

Not a fan of sweets at all? That’s fine too. Enter the pork pie tower. It’s hearty, savoury, and especially brilliant for the evening food. Add some chutneys and cheese on the side and you’ve got a winning combo.

Whatever you go for, the idea is the same: something sweet (or savoury!) that reflects your vibe.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" class="wp-image-3389 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-55-991A0260-1024x683.jpg" alt="Blue Macaron, wedding favour.
Dan Shoots Weddings

Making the Cake the Main Dessert

A really smart trend we’re seeing is using the wedding cake as the main dessert. It makes so much sense, both logistically and financially.

By serving the cake as dessert, you can cut it at the start of the meal while all your guests are seated and paying attention. It also means you can skip the cost of a separate dessert course altogether.

Guests are much more likely to eat the cake when it’s served as part of the meal, and you can elevate it with beautiful plating. Add some berries, a drizzle of coulis or a fancy sweet sauce, and you’ve got something that feels special.

Plus, it puts the cake in the spotlight it deserves, not just wheeled out during the awkward post-speech lull.

Agnes Black

Or… Maybe No Cake At All?

Here’s the truth. You absolutely do not need to have a cake. If it doesn’t feel like your thing, skip it. No big deal

Choosing to eliminate the cake gives you room in the budget for other things, maybe a few extra cocktails, live music, or something fabulous for the honeymoon. It also removes the pressure of making yet another decision in the planning process.

And if you still want to offer guests a treat, just do it your way. A surprise round of espresso martinis during dancing? A late-night s’mores bar? All brilliant options.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="819" class="wp-image-3393 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-BM-LISAJANEPHOTO-1411-1-1024x819.jpg" alt="Espresso Martinis, Bride & Groom.
Lisa Jane Photography

Final Thoughts (or the Last Bite)

Wedding cakes have come a long way since Roman bread-smashing and medieval pastry towers. Whether you go classic tiered, totally alternative, or skip it altogether, your wedding day should reflect you.

Sweet, simple, full of flavour. Just like love, really. So, go ahead. Eat cake, or cheese, or doughnuts. Or nothing at all. And enjoy every second of it.

HOW DO WEDDING RINGS WORK?

Wedding rings are the physical reminder of the vows exchanged during the ceremony. They represent love, unity, and the promise of a lifelong commitment. Their circular shape, having no beginning or end, represents infinite love and devotion.

Whilst wedding rings are mostly symbolic, they also have practical purposes, wearing one is a clear way to show you’re married, avoiding any awkward “Are you single?” moments and more importantly your wedding ring carries deep sentimental value, it’s a reminder of the big day and the journey you’ve been on together.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-3354" style="width: 661px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-BM-LISAJANEPHOTO-0001-1024x683.jpg" alt="Bridal Prep, engagement ring.

Lisa Jane Photography

In some cultures and legal systems, it’s also seen as a recognised sign of marriage, though it’s not required for a marriage to be legally binding. Traditionally, rings are exchanged during the ceremony, usually after the vows, and are then meant to be worn every day.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" class="wp-image-3355 aligncenter" style="width: 591px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-KT-Wedding-331-1024x683.jpg" alt="Bride and Groom holding hands during ceremony.

HOW ARE WEDDING RINGS WORN?

Traditionally, Wedding rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand, the “ring finger”. Sometimes this varies across cultures and personal preferences for example, in Orthodox Christian traditions, wedding rings are worn on the right hand instead.

Most people wear their engagement and wedding rings together on the same finger, with the wedding band closer to the heart, below the engagement ring. But some prefer to wear them on separate hands, totally up to personal style!

For people who can’t wear rings at work, like doctors or construction workers, or people who just prefer not to, wearing the ring on a chain around their neck is a popular alternative. Recently, we’ve also seen a rise in ring “alternatives” like silicone bands, which are great for active lifestyles, and travel-friendly “fake” rings for those who don’t want to risk losing the real deal on holidays, or even opting for no ring at all and going for a tattoo on the ring finger. It’s all about what works best for you!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" class="wp-image-3356 aligncenter" style="width: 607px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-302-CHR60340-1024x683.jpg" alt="Married, bride and groom wedding rings.

Sabi & Saint

WHY DO WE WEAR WEDDING RINGS ON THE LEFT HAND?

The tradition of wearing a wedding ring on the left hand goes way back, thousands of years, and is tied to both history and symbolism. There’s the “Vein of Love” theory, from ancient Rome where the Romans believed the vein called the Vena Amoris ran directly from the fourth finger on the left hand directly to the heart. It was seen as a romantic and symbolic way to connect the ring directly to love itself. Modern anatomy has proven that all fingers have veins leading directly to the heart, but tradition has stood the test of time!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" class="wp-image-3362 aligncenter" style="width: 637px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-JRP_EM_1183-1024x683.jpg" alt="Wedding rings.

Joanna Ranson Photography

CHOOSING THE PERFECT WEDDING RING

Picking the perfect wedding ring is a big deal! It’s something you’ll (hopefully) wear every day, so it should feel perfect!

The first thing to think about is the material. A classic yellow gold, sleek white gold, modern platinum, or maybe something a little different like rose gold or titanium. Each metal has its own look, feel, and durability, so it’s important to consider things like your lifestyle. If you’re hard on jewellery, platinum is super durable, while gold is softer. If you have metal allergies, hypoallergenic options like platinum or titanium might be a better option.

Jewellers will usually suggest getting matching metals for your wedding and engagement ring, not just for visuals but because different metals wear down at different rates, so if you stack a softer gold band with a harder platinum one, the gold could wear down faster over time. At the end of the day, it’s about choosing rings that feel right for each of you.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3358 aligncenter" style="width: 421px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-KT-Wedding-164-683x1024.jpg" alt="Engagement ring, bridal prep.

V & H Photography

Next, when thinking about your rings, you need to consider style and comfort. Some people love a simple, timeless band, while others want something with diamonds or unique detailing. If you’re wearing it with an engagement ring, make sure they look good together! Some bands are designed to fit snugly against certain engagement ring styles. Comfort is also important as you’ll be wearing it daily. It’s good to try different widths and finishes to see what feels best on your finger. Also, think about ring profiles, curved, flat, domed, they all feel a little different when worn, especially when stacked next to an engagement ring, or future eternity band…

Some other things to think about are practicality and personal touches. If you’re an active person or work with your hands a lot, a low-maintenance ring like a brushed finish or a plain band might be better than something with intricate designs or stones that need regular cleaning. Men will often choose Titanium as it’s lightweight, durable, low maintenance and hypoallergenic or Platinum which is also a great choice for a wedding band as it’s incredibly durable, naturally hypoallergenic, and has a timeless, elegant look. It’s also resistant to tarnish and corrosion, so it keeps its look for years without needing constant upkeep.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3359 aligncenter" style="width: 421px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-radikaandash-0577-683x1024.jpg" alt="Groom wedding band, wedding day.

Fineshades Studios

And if you want to make it extra special, you could consider custom engraving, we’ve seen couples add their wedding date or initials. You could also do an inside joke only the two of you get. Ultimately, the perfect wedding ring isn’t just about trends on social media or what looks good in a jewellery store, it’s about you and what feels right for you.

If you can’t find something you love, going the custom route might be more your style. It’s a great way to get something totally unique and bespoke to you. It’s a great option if you’re having a hard time finding the one, but custom can take time, so make sure you plan the time for it to be made. But in the end you’ll have something totally personal to you, making it even more special.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" class="wp-image-3361 aligncenter" style="width: 575px; height: auto;" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/Copy-of-JRP_EM_1101-1024x683.jpg" alt="Wedding ring details.

Our advice? Take your time, try on different styles, and pick something you’ll actually love wearing every day. Wedding rings aren’t just another piece of jewellery, they’re a meaningful symbol of your love, commitment, and the life you’re building together. Traditions may differ, even maybe between the couple’s families, but the sentiment stays the same, a lifelong promise

So don’t rush it. Find a ring that speaks to you, one you’ll be proud to wear, and enjoy every moment of this new chapter in your life!

On a beautiful spring Saturday, M&P celebrated their love with a Bridgerton themed wedding, which was of course, nothing short of spectacular! This beautiful day seamlessly blended timeless elegance with thoughtful, personal touches, all set against the incredible backdrop of Stowe School, a Grade I-listed country house in Buckinghamshire. From a sentimental church ceremony to a Bridgerton-inspired wedding reception filled with grandeur, I’m here to tell you all about every moment of the day, which was infused with charm and sophistication.

Not sure where to start with your wedding planning? Read How To Start Wedding Planning, The Ultimate Guide

A Ceremony Steeped in Family Tradition

The day began at Cottisford Church, a place with deep family ties for the bride. Nestled in her parents’ village, this charming church had witnessed generations of family weddings, including those of her parents and grandparents. It was the perfect setting for the couple to start their married life together.

The intimate ceremony featured traditional elements, three heartfelt readings, and beautiful music from an organist. The bride’s arrival was a highlight in itself—she travelled in a pale blue ribbon-adorned Rolls Royce, accompanied by her dad. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds stepped outside to a shower of confetti and paused under the picturesque gate archway for a traditional family photograph!

Drinks Reception in the North Hall

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the stunning Stowe School for the drink’s reception in the North Hall. With its grand architecture and elegant decor, the hall perfectly matched the couples Bridgerton wedding theme. Guests were welcomed with glasses of prosecco and an assortment of Portfolio Events’ house canapés, while a string quartet played modern tunes, (including the bride’s favourite – Taylor Swift!) creating an air of sophistication, and very in keeping with the theme.

Adding to the charm was Lauren Marie Studio, a live painter who captured pictures of the guests attending, and painted them onto a postcard. This thoughtful touch not only entertained guests but also provided each guest with a stunning keepsake. This worked instead of a favour on the table.

A Grand Reception in the Marble Hall

As guests moved into the Marble Hall for the wedding breakfast, they were greeted by a scene of grand Bridgerton elegance which really wowed everyone who entered! The room was decorated in a powder blue and white colour palette, reflecting the couple’s theme. Sky-blue tablecloths, paired beautifully with patterned charger plates and goblets, while Bloomfields Flowers elevated the space with towering floral centrepieces and delicate bud vases, incorporating a splash of peach tones within the blue hydrangeas.

The tables were meticulously set, featuring personalised menus, and a blue macaron favour at each place setting. The attention to detail created an inviting and luxurious atmosphere.

Culinary Delights Fit for Royalty

When it came to the food, the couple ensured their guests enjoyed a culinary experience as grand as their Bridgerton-inspired wedding celebration. Portfolio Events delivered a carefully curated choice menu, starting with an array of elegant starters: chicken liver parfait, roasted goat cheese and cherry tomato, or smoked salmon mousse.

For the main course, guests had the option of tender feather blade beef accompanied by horseradish mash, chicken supreme with creamy dauphinoise potato, or a beautifully prepared roasted butternut squash risotto. The meal concluded with indulgent desserts: a classic sticky toffee pudding (my favourite!) or a rich chocolate brownie. Which would you choose?!

The cake table was another showstopper. At the centre was a simple fondant cake adorned with intricate sugar flowers, with the top tier cleverly crafted as a false layer. Surrounding the main cake was an array of mini cakes and desserts, styled to complement the couple’s theme, with some floral arrangements from the church, repurposed to create a stunning, impactful display.

Evening Elegance in the Temple Room

As the sun set, the festivities continued in the Temple Room, where the evening reception brought a lively yet intimate vibe. The White Rooms Band took to the stage for two high-energy sets, while a DJ kept the dance floor buzzing between performances. The couple chose Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love for their first dance, sharing this magical moment before inviting guests to join them on the floor for their second dance to Burning Love. Choosing a second dance is a great way of making sure the dancefloor is busy from the very beginning, as you know what your guests are going to want to hear!

For evening snacks, guests were treated to bacon baps, ensuring everyone had the energy to keep dancing well into the night. Guests were invited to buy the couple’s signature drinks: whisky and coke for the groom and gin and tonic for the bride. These small, personal touches added an extra layer of personalisation to the celebration.

Unique Touches and Memorable Moments

From start to finish, this Bridgerton inspired wedding was filled with thoughtful details that made the day truly special. Some of the most memorable moments for me included:

Traditional Family Photo: Displaying wedding photos from family members at the church gates created a touching homage to their legacy of love.

Transport: The golf buggy ride around Stowe’s grounds was a fun and unique way to capture some magical couple’s photos in the most amazing spots.

Live Painter: Lauren Marie Studio’s artwork not only entertained guests but also gave them a reminder of the day to take away with them.

Flowers: The flowers were incredible and really set the tone for the day! They were then given as gifts to guests at the end of the night to enjoy, so they weren’t wasted.

One of the most important parts of wedding planning to some many couples – the aesthetic! When it comes to choosing your wedding colour palette, it can sometimes feel like an overwhelming decision. You log into Pinterest and see a crazy number of different ideas, and keep changing your mind – sound familiar?! The colours you select set the tone for your entire celebration, influencing everything from décor to attire and even floral arrangements.

For 2025, Pantone has named Mocha Mousse as its Colour of the Year — a rich, warm brown that brings sophistication, comfort, and versatility, and I am absolutely loving it! There are so many ways you can use it! Whether your wedding is modern, rustic, or vintage-inspired, this hue has something to offer. I mean, guys, Mrs Hinch grey is so out now! Today, I’m sharing ten wedding colour scheme ideas featuring Mocha Mousse to inspire your planning journey.

1. Mocha Mousse and Blush Pink: Romantic and lush

Blush pink has been a popular colour palette for many years now. It is a timeless colour! So let’s bring it into 2025. Imagine pairing Mocha Mousse with soft blush pinks for a romantic and modern look. Think warm mocha-toned bridesmaid dresses, blush pink toned table linens, and lush floral arrangements of roses and peonies. This combination brings warmth and softness to your wedding day, perfect for spring or summer celebrations.

2. Mocha Mousse and Sage Green: timeless and chic

Another timeless colour that has been popular for years – sage green! Sage green was about in wedding palettes before people evening started thinking about forest and olive greens at weddings! If you’re envisioning an outdoor wedding or one with a nature-inspired vibe, look no further than Mocha Mousse and sage green. These earthy tones complement each other beautifully, creating a serene and grounded aesthetic. Think eucalyptus garlands, sage-green bridesmaid dresses, and a touch of mocha elements that enhance the palette, and give sage green a new lease of life.

3. Mocha Mousse and Burnt Orange: Autumnal and warm

For an autumn wedding that feels warm and inviting, combine Mocha Mousse with burnt orange. This duo creates a bold yet harmonious palette that’s perfect for rustic barns or outdoor venues. Burnt orangery really started to make its way into the wedding scene a few years back, when barn venues became particularly popular, and we absolutely love it! Team is with rustic wooden tables and chairs, and this colour palette will look incredible!

4. Mocha Mousse and Burgundy: Luxe and Dramatic

Burgundy is the perfect partner for Mocha Mousse if you’re dreaming of a wedding full of depth and sophistication. The richness of these hues works beautifully in formal settings, such as stately homes and castle wedding venues. Burgundy is another timeless classic, and looks particularly beautiful in winter months. Think deep burgundy roses, mocha table runners, and gold accents for an opulent finish.

5. Mocha Mousse and Champagne Beige: Understated and glamourous

For a minimalist yet luxurious wedding colour palette, pair Pantone’s colour of the year 2025 Mocha Mousse with champagne beige. This neutral duo creates a clean and sophisticated look, perfect for modern weddings. Use champagne for bridesmaid dresses and Mocha Mousse for statement floral pieces and in your linen. For your metallics, add a champagne gold. White/gold stemmed cutlery would match this tablespace incredibly well.

6. Mocha Mousse and Coral: Bold and Beautiful

For couples who love a pop of colour, coral can elevate mocha mousse to create a lively and dynamic palette. Coral florals, paired with mocha linens and decor, bring energy and vibrancy to the celebration. This combination works especially well for summer weddings with outdoor receptions. Coral is so versatile, and you can get such a beautiful array of flowers in this colour. Also pairs beautifully with peach. Add a touch of class with your gold cutlery and gold rimmed glasses, and you’re away!

7. Mocha Mousse and Olive: Organic and Elegant

Olive and mocha mousse together feel effortlessly natural, making them an excellent choice for couples drawn to organic aesthetics. Think lush greenery, moss-covered centrepieces, and mocha accents in your tableware. Greens have become so popular in wedding colour schemes, and are definitely here to stay! Velvet materials and bows also work really well with this aesthetic!

8. Mocha Mousse and Barbie Pink: Girly And Bold

For couples who want to make a bold and playful statement, mocha mousse paired with Barbie pink creates a fun and eye-catching palette. This combination is perfect for summer weddings or couples looking to add a touch of fun energy to their day. Think bright pink florals, pink bridesmaid dresses, and mocha-toned accents in tableware or signage. This palette brings a girly, vibrant energy to your wedding, ensuring it’s as unforgettable as it is stylish. And of course….Barbie will never go out of fashion!

How to Incorporate Your Colour Scheme

Once you’ve chosen your palette, it’s time to bring it to life. Start by considering the key elements of your wedding:

Stationery: Invitations and save-the-dates are great places to showcase your colour scheme before the day, to give guests an idea of what is to come. On the day stationery really helps with the aesthetic on the day, including individual menus, place cards and signage

Flowers: Work with your florist to incorporate your colours into bouquets, centrepieces, and installations. Send your chosen mood board to them for inspiration and find out what flowers work in this wedding colour palette.

Attire: From bridesmaid dresses to groomsmen’s accessories, attire is an easy way to highlight your palette.

Décor: Think table linens and candles to really bring your wedding colour palette to life.

Details: Don’t forget about the small touches, like cake design, your food choices, plate design, signature cocktails, and signage.

Why Choose Mocha Mousse?

Mocha mousse is a unique and versatile colour that works beautifully as a base or an accent and I feel like I am going to love working with this colour for a long time! It’s neutral enough to pair with almost any colour yet bold enough to make a statement on its own. Its warmth and richness make it particularly well-suited to creating intimate and welcoming atmospheres.

By incorporating mocha mousse into your wedding, you’re embracing a trend-forward colour while also creating a timeless look that will shine in your photos for years to come.

As 2024 draws to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the weddings I’ve been lucky enough to be part of this year and looking ahead to what’s on the horizon for 2025, to bring you my honest thoughts from a wedding planner. If you’re newly engaged and starting to plan your special day, here are my thoughts—what’s been brilliant, what’s been less so, and what I’m most excited for in the year ahead. This should all really help you when you are starting to plan your big day! The things you need to think about, what to avoid and why we love the wedding industry!

Loved Seeing This Year

Large One-Tier Cakes Simplicity at its finest! This year, couples have embraced the beauty of large, single-tier cakes. Whether adorned with intricate piping or fresh flowers and fruit, they’ve proven that you don’t need a multi-tiered masterpiece to make an impact. My thought as a wedding planner: they’re elegant, and a true Paul Hollywood showstopper (yes, I am a Bake Off fan!) We had a couple this year, the beautiful R&A, who even cut theirs with a sword! Top tip – you may not necessarily be looking for a wedding cake maker for this, but an actual baker. We used an amazing local baker for this who had large ovens to bake the pieces of the cake in, which were then constructed at the venue. Great if you have a local bakery you love to use!

Stripping Back on Traditions It’s been wonderful to see couples being selective with traditions, only keeping the ones that truly mean something to them. Skipping the bouquet toss, writing their own vows, or even walking down the aisle together—it’s all about making the day feel personal. You need to think about what makes sense to you, and what is important. We have seen more couples than ever this year skipping the cake cutting! We’ve had couples who have gone without bridal parties as they struggled to segregate people, and we’ve also seen a surge in couples signing the legal bits at the registry office, and having a celebrant or family member to marry them on the day – so much more personal!

Big Parties, No Separate Guest Lists The days of splitting guests into “day” and “evening” are fading fast. This year was all about big, inclusive celebrations where everyone felt equally valued. It’s such a lovely way to create a warm and lively atmosphere. You may be wondering how you can achieve this if you have a set catering budget, but you can of course have a later celebration with a more informal dining experience for all of your guests.

Couple More Immersed In Planning I’ve loved seeing couples and their families throw themselves into planning and being fully present on the day. This was one of the first years I have had working with lovely couples that the planning process has been driven by both of the couple and not just one of them! We’ve seen a lot of family involvement too this year, which, yes, having more than two opinions can be difficult, but as long as parents etc understand that ultimately it is your final decision, getting other opinions can be great! I’ve also seen couples enjoying their days more than ever! It’s only been once this year that I have had a Bride who just couldn’t switch off from planning mode, however much we tried! But this is a first! The overwhelm of planning and just the day in general usually causes many more couples, brides especially, to still be stressing about what is happening around them and behind the scenes, so it’s an improvement! I feel there is so much more advice online now about truly immersing yourself in your day! As a wedding planner I have loved to see this and have thought at the end of each wedding how much I hope this continues!

Focusing on What Matters More couples are tuning into what their guests really care about: delicious food, flowing drinks, great music, and an unforgettable party. Cutting out unnecessary extras and focusing on the experience has been a breath of fresh air. From formalities such as confetti shots, to bits and bobs you *think* people want, such as personalised napkins, guest favours and flip flops, we are seeing more couples cutting back on these extras, then putting that budget into making sure the food is amazing, the wine is flowing and the band are the best they can afford.

Not Loved This Year

Champagne Towers Yes, they look stunning in photos, but champagne towers are more hassle than they’re worth. They’re fiddly to set up, prone to mishaps, and often feel more style than substance. Let’s toast to seeing fewer of these in 2025. If you really need champagne in your wedding photos, let’s go back to a good ole champagne spray!

Completely Open Bars Offering every drink under the sun can be a logistical nightmare and unnecessarily costly. Not to mention the state of the guests at the end of the night! I’ve seen couples opt for a pared-back bar with just a couple of signature cocktails, beer, and wine—and it works so much better. Thoughtful and streamlined is the way forward.

Couples Overloading Themselves Wedding planning is a big task (as a wedding planner, we truly understand this!), and my thoughts are that I’ve seen too many couples take on too much, leading to unnecessary stress. Delegating, hiring professionals, and leaning on family and friends can make all the difference. Remember, your wedding should be enjoyable—not a chore. Be realistic in what you’re actually going to have time to do around the stresses of everyday life. Writing every guest an individual poem maybe isn’t the one when you have a full time career and a house to run!

Looking Ahead to 2025

Exciting New Colour Schemes Bold and unconventional colour palettes are on the rise, and I’m loving the creativity they bring. We are seeing less strict colour palettes and far more range of colours, not sticking to one particular colour. With Pantone’s Colour of the Year now revealed, I’m excited to see how couples incorporate it into their themes. I absolutely LOVE this mocha colour! And yes, some people are thinking, brown?! But you can pair it with some beautiful bright colours to make a really stunning, sophisticated colour palette!

Unique Venues I’m thrilled about working at more unconventional venues next year. One I’m particularly excited about is the Eden Project. Those iconic biomes have been on my radar ever since I visited as a child when it was still being built. It’s a truly magical place to tie the knot. This is just one of the venues we are working at next year that people we are chatting to are actually surprised you can get married at!

Personalised Touches Personalisation is set to be even bigger in 2025. Couples are going beyond monogrammed napkins and table names, and making the day more about them as a couple, so guests stand back and think, wow that’s so them. It’s all about creating a day that’s uniquely theirs, from food options, to bands they are hiring, we are cutting out the noise of ‘what will everyone else want’ and thinking about what is more ‘them’! That’s what guests love most, when the wedding day feels like the couple.

Celebrating Sustainability Eco-conscious weddings are gaining momentum, and it’s fantastic to see. From sourcing local food and drink, to reusing decor, keeping all suppliers to the local area to keeping it within the UK and not hopping on flights abroad, couples are finding creative ways to make their weddings more sustainable. It’s a trend that as a wedding planner, I fully hope isn’t just a trend, and my thoughts are that it’s something I’m fully behind.

Final Wedding Planner Thoughts

Whether you’re planning an intimate affair or a grand celebration, make it a reflection of your love story. I hope you’ve enjoyed my honest thoughts from a wedding planner!

It’s safe to say we’re still obsessed with all things weddings—especially celebrity weddings! From jaw-dropping venues to breathtaking dresses, we’re here to relive the most iconic celebrity weddings of 2024. Let’s dive into our favourite wedding moments of the year!

Anant & Radhika

Let’s start with the sensational Ambani wedding! It has been quoted as the “wedding of the year” and you can guarantee we enjoyed every element.

When it comes to grandeur, the Ambanis never disappoint! Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was a real experience, blending tradition and extravagance. Held over several days at the Ambani family’s Mumbai residence, Antilia, the celebrations featured breathtaking floral installations, live performances, and rituals steeped in Indian culture.

Radhika looked radiant in a red Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga, adorned with intricate embroidery and jewels, while Anant wore a cream sherwani embellished with gold. Highlights? A stunning Baraat procession, fireworks, live dhol players, topped with a star-studded guest list, and a reception dinner featuring an exclusive menu by Michelin-starred chefs.

Vicky & Ercan

My Big Fat Geordie wedding indeed! Vicky Pattison and Ercan Ramadan tied the knot in a very chic ceremony at London’s Marylebone town hall known for its classic intimate setting for the legal part of their marriage before flying to the Amalfi Coast for their main ceremony at Castello Monaci, nothing short of a Mediterranean dream! Vicky went for more than one dress for her wedding day. Suzanne Neville and The Wedding Club worked to ensure she looked stunning in every single part of the celebration!

Millie & Jake

Another Bride in gorgeous dresses in Italy, Millie Bobby Brown married Jake Bongiovi at the stunning Villa Cetinale. Millie wore four dresses across the occasion, for the wedding ceremony, she wore a custom Galia Lahav gown, working with designers to create her customisations. Later changing into a vintage-style Valentino dress for their couples photos, an Oscar de la Renta short dress for the reception and another Oscar de la Renta full gown to cut the cake! Millie’s four-dress approach not only showed her love for fashion but also ensured each element of the day had it’s own unique vibe.

The flowers, oh wow! A huge white flower arch was absolutely stunning and they also had one of our favourite bands, Sensation Band, performing for their guests!

Rebel & Ramona

Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma married on the Italian island of Sardinia, a truly romantic spot where they had holidayed before. They organised the wedding in 3 months and an important part of the wedding for Rebel was obviously the music, flying in a 20-piece band led and produced by Alessandro De Angelis

Rebel and Ramona stunned in a duet of Pronovias dresses in a Mikado fabric, classic elegance, styled individually. Rebels corseted princess gown looked stunning next to Ramona’s A-line silhouette, matching perfectly.

Josh & Jordan

“In a *light* blizzard” Josh Radnor and Dr Jordan Jacobs married at the Cedar Lakes Estate in Hudson Valley, in upstate New York, in a heartwarming moment, outdoors, during a major snowstorm!

Guests and suppliers had to stay the night as they were unable to travel due to the snow and ice!

Guests received welcome bags on arrival, including incense sticks, an incense dish, CBD tincture and an ‘intention kit’ with paper a pen and a note reading “‘We find that setting an intention can be a helpful way to drop in and calibrate your internal compass to true north”

Lana Del Ray & Jeremy

The Lovely Lana announced her romance with Jeremy Dufrene, jut one month before they wed in an intimate ‘relaxed, family-focused’ ceremony by the water in Louisiana, where Jeremy operates his popular swamp boat tours and where they first met.

We haven’t seen any official photos other than those released here, and no information about the dress, sad face!

Zoe & Danny

Influencer and sister to Molly-Mae, Zoe Hague married her military fiance Danny Rae at the gorgeous Inn on the Lake at Ullswater, in the Lake District National Park. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, with the British weather on their side, with the clouds parting and blue skies and majestic mountains – Hannah’s idea of a perfect backdrop!

The night before the wedding, the wedding party enjoyed a scenic lake cruise aboard the Ullswater steamer to start the celebrations. For the wedding itself, Zoe wore a fitted strapless dress from The White Closet, florals from the talented Amelia Rose Florals featured a white floral arch, flower meadows for the ceremony and stunning hand bouquets for the bridal party. Following the ever-popular trend of an outfit change, Zoe’s second dress was a beautiful shorter-style ivory dress and Danny changed into a different suit, after a shower first!

Adele & Rich

Adele has been keeping us on our toes, she has been dropping cryptic hints about her wedding to Rich Paul. If you try to find out information about Adele’s wedding online, you won’t find it! She keeps teasing us all, referring to Rich as her husband and responding to Alan Carr’s asking his audience if anyone has got married recently with an “I did” but she did confirm in August they are not married, yet! So 2025, Adele, we want to see your wedding!

Hannah & Martyn

Okay, not necessarily celebrity weddings, but one I couldn’t miss out on! Our Hannah Rose married her very own Mr Right, Martyn. Hannah and Martyn met through a friend on a night out, and as she says “The rest is history”!

The wedding celebrations started with the legal bit taking place in the registry office, afterwards, Hannah swapped her pink wedding shoes for her climbing boots, and they along with 2 photographers, a videographer and 2 friends climbed Snowdon to read their vows to one another!

Hannah and Martyn continued to celebrate their wedding with Friends and Family a couple of weeks later at home in Northamptonshire, with an outdoor ceremony, in true British style the rain only started 1 minute before the end of the ceremony! They celebrated the rest of the day with a gorgeous BBQ station from Portfolio Events and amazing live music throughout their drinks reception and the Josie Soden band for the reception.
