When you’re planning a wedding, it’s so easy to get caught up in all the shiny, exciting bits. The dress. The venue. The flowers you’ve been obsessively saving on Pinterest for months. The cute little details that make your day feel special and totally you. But here’s the thing, what often gets forgotten is how all of those pieces actually come together on the day. And trust us, that’s where the magic, or the stress, happens. This is where a wedding coordinator really shines.

Honestly, it’s one of those things couples don’t always realise they need… until they do. And then afterwards, it’s the thing they say they couldn’t have done without. Seriously, ask anyone who’s been there, they’ll probably tell you it’s worth every penny and then some.

Hiring a wedding coordinator isn’t about going over the top or handing over control. It’s about feeling supported, looked after, and actually being able to enjoy your wedding. Properly. From the planning right through to the last dance.

Venue: Old Sessions House

“they were absolutely brilliant… Hannah and Chloe went above and beyond to make sure we were as comfortable and happy as possible”

What’s the difference between a wedding planner and a coordinator?

A wedding planner and a wedding coordinator play very different roles, and understanding the difference can really help when deciding what support you need.

A wedding planner is involved from the very beginning, guiding you through the entire planning journey. They help shape your vision, manage your budget, source and liaise with your suppliers, and support you with decisions along the way.

A wedding coordinator steps in much closer to the wedding day, usually around one month beforehand. Their focus is on taking everything you’ve planned and making sure it runs exactly as it should. They manage the timings, liaise with and greet suppliers, oversee the day’s logistics, and handle anything that pops up on the day, so you’re not answering questions or problem-solving while you should be enjoying every moment.

Venue: Hampton Court House

Planning a wedding is exciting… but it can also feel like a lot

Like, a lot, a lot! Let’s be honest, wedding planning can quite literally take over your life. One minute you’re buzzing about colour schemes, favours, and ceremony ideas, and the next you’re juggling emails, contracts, timings, and a never-ending to-do list. Cue panic!

A wedding coordinator helps bring it all back to calm. We help you organise your plans in a way that feels manageable, not overwhelming. You still make all the decisions, still choose everything you love, but you’re not doing it alone. There’s someone there to support you, keep you on track, and gently remind you it’s all going to be okay.

Your wedding day should feel calm, not rushed

One of the biggest worries couples share is that the day will fly by, or that they’ll feel stressed and pulled in a million directions, answering calls, sorting last-minute things, or even getting ready in a whirl of chaos. And it’s a totally valid worry.

With a wedding coordinator, you don’t need to watch the clock, think about what’s next, or dash around trying to make everything happen yourself. We’re quietly running the day in the background, making sure it all flows naturally. If something needs tweaking, we handle it. If someone has a question, they come to us.

You get to stay exactly where you should be, present, relaxed, and soaking up every moment. And honestly? That feeling alone is worth every penny.

V & H Photography

Your friends and family get to relax too

We hear it all the time: “Oh my mum is going to do that,” or “My bridesmaids will handle this.” And while it’s offered with the best intentions, it often leaves your loved ones juggling jobs instead of actually enjoying the day. Even the most reliable people can find it tricky once the excitement and emotion really kick in.

With a coordinator, your family and friends can just be themselves. Your mum isn’t worrying about timings, your best friend isn’t fielding questions, and no one is scrambling to fix last-minute hiccups. Everyone gets to celebrate with you, exactly as it should be.

Marianne Chua Photography

We’re thinking about the things you don’t even see

Weddings rarely run exactly to plan, and that’s completely normal. The difference is having someone who knows how to deal with it calmly and quietly. A wedding coordinator is always thinking a few steps ahead. If something needs adjusting, we do it without fuss. Most of the time, couples don’t even notice anything needed sorting, and honestly, that’s the goal. You stay relaxed, your guests stay happy, and the day keeps flowing. (Pro tip: this is the stuff that makes your wedding actually feel effortless in photos and memories.)

Your ideas deserve to be brought to life properly

You’ve spent so much time imagining how your wedding will look and feel, not just the pretty details, but the atmosphere, the timing, and those little moments you’ve been dreaming about.

A coordinator makes sure your plans are understood and carried out exactly as you hoped. Everyone involved knows what’s happening and when, so your vision doesn’t get lost. It’s not about taking over, it’s about protecting what matters to you.

Venue: AMP Studios

The final weeks feel so much easier

Those last few weeks before the wedding can feel super intense, even if you’ve been really organised. Suddenly, there are more questions, more details to confirm, final decisions to make, and more things to think about. Cue stress levels rising.

Having a wedding coordinator during this time is such a relief. You know someone experienced has looked over everything, and nothing important has been missed. You’re not second-guessing yourself or lying awake at night worrying. Instead, you can start getting excited, which is exactly how it should feel.

“We worked with Chloe for day of coordination who was the best decision we made for our wedding.”

How much does a wedding coordinator cost?

Having a wedding coordinator is an investment in how your day feels. When couples look back on their wedding, they rarely remember every tiny detail. They remember how they felt, calm, happy, excited, and fully present. A wedding coordinator protects that feeling.

We take care of the logistics so you can focus on the moments that matter, the hugs, the laughs, the happy tears, and the celebration. That’s why so many couples say it was the best investment they made.

For most weddings with us, on the day coordination usually sits between £1,750 and £2,500. In the context of an overall wedding budget, it’s a relatively small part, but the impact is felt throughout the entire day. It’s not just about someone running the schedule, it’s about having the space to enjoy your wedding without worrying about what’s happening next.

Because you only get to experience it once. Your wedding day isn’t a practice run. You don’t get a do-over. It deserves your full attention, not your stress.

Having a wedding coordinator means you can let go, trust the plan, and truly enjoy your day. You can be present, knowing someone is taking care of everything behind the scenes. And that, more than anything else, is what makes it all so special.

Venue: Flore House

What is the role of a wedding coordinator?

We manage the logistics and the details behind the scenes. We make sure the day runs smoothly, acting as the main point of contact for your suppliers and ensuring everything runs to schedule. A wedding coordinator also helps pre-empt the little things that can happen on the day, often before you even realise there was ever a potential hiccup. Most couples only plan one wedding in their lifetime, so everything is new. Even if you’re an event planner or project manager in everyday life, weddings are a whole different world.

Managing weddings is what we do day in, day out. It’s in our DNA. We know where things can wobble, what questions might pop up, and what needs thinking about in advance. So rather than risking it or trying to handle it all yourself, it just makes sense to trust someone who truly knows what they’re doing. That way, you can let go, relax, and properly enjoy your wedding day, exactly as it was meant to be enjoyed.

(Seriously, it’s the difference between enjoying a glass of champagne with your girls in the morning and running around fixing things in your rollers.)

If you want your wedding to feel relaxed, well looked after, and full of joy from start to finish, hiring a wedding coordinator really is one of the kindest things you can do for yourselves.

What a year for “I do’s”! From secret elopements to over-the-top soirées, some of our favourite celebs truly outdid themselves. Whether it was multi-day extravaganzas or spontaneous vows, 2025 delivered an incredible line-up of weddings! More wedding inspo than we could possibly pin to a mood board! Ready to dive into the most breathtaking, buzz-worthy celebrations of the year? Here’s our look back at some of our favourite celebrity weddings of 2025!

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Jeff-Bezos-768x1024.webp" alt="bride and groom

Where else could we possibly begin but with what was arguably the most extravagant celebrity wedding of the 2025?! Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez said their vows during a lavish, three-day celebration in Venice. Their ceremony took place on the breathtaking island of San Giorgio Maggiore, which the couple hired exclusively for the occasion. Naturally, the guest list was a who’s who of global powerhouses, with icons like Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates reportedly in attendance.

Lauren Sánchez stole the show in a couture gown adorned with 180 silk chiffon–covered priest buttons, a dress fit for a royal wedding. Yet perhaps the most jaw-dropping detail of all was the wedding cake which was crafted by the legendary Parisian pastry mastermind Cédric Grolet. Rumour has it the cake might be the most expensive wedding cake ever created – we can only imagine!

Becca Bloom and David Pownall

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="666" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Becca-Bloom-666x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and groom

TikTok sensation Rebecca Ma – known online as Becca Bloom – married software engineer David Pownall in a wedding that looked straight out of a modern fairytale. Set against the dreamy backdrop of Lake Como, their summer celebration gave undeniable Crazy Rich Asians energy, combining whimsical romance with jaw-dropping luxury.

The ceremony featured spectacular towering floral installations, a mirrored aisle reflecting the shimmering lake views and spectacular bursts of colourful smoke cannons that transformed the setting into something almost cinematic. Even the rain, because, of course, Lake Como loves a dramatic moment couldn’t dull the magic. If anything, it added to the atmosphere, making for photos so beautiful they’ll likely serve as huge wedding inspo for years to come.

Georgia Toffolo and James Watt

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Georgia-Toffolo-1024x576.webp" alt="bride and groom

From lavish floral arrangements to supermarket daffodils, Georgia Toffolo’s wedding plans and comments caused quite the stir. If any celebrity wedding 2025 gave us a wedding with personality, it was this one! Georgia Toffolo’s big day sparked headlines, memes and admiration in equal measure. The reality star kept things spontaneous, reportedly telling guests to join only “if you can get here within 48 hours.” From there, the chaos and the charm began.

On her way to the ceremony, she allegedly grabbed supermarket daffodils to use as flowers, and her cake was rumoured to be a last-minute DIY creation. The photos the couple shared were wonderfully unconventional: the groom wearing fishing waders and Georgia posing in a cream, off-the-shoulder fleece while clutching freshly caught lobsters. The result? A celebration that felt refreshingly authentic, quirky and full of personality. But we absolutely adore this playful take on a very traditional day.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco said “I do” in a beautifully intimate California ceremony this September. The couple both wore custom Ralph Lauren ensembles, blending timeless elegance with effortless modern romance. Their guest list was, unsurprisingly full of music icons with Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran reportedly giving speeches during their celebration.

And if the speeches weren’t iconic enough, the ring bearer was none other than Martin Short. Yes, that Martin Short. The blend of classic style, star-studded storytelling, and celebrity sparkle made their wedding truly unforgettable.

Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="829" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Dani-Dyer-829x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and groom

In May, Dani Dyer and footballer Jarrod Bowen tied the knot at the stunning Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire. Their celebration oozed elegance, intimacy and was a true family affair. One of the most touching details? Dani’s father, Danny Dyer, walking her proudly down the aisle. Their children served as flower girls and page boy and the photos are absolutely stunning!

The dreamy white Hydrangeas and roses helped created a hugely romantic vibe and the dreamy outdoor scenery gave the event an almost Bridgerton-esque charm – we are obsessed! This absolutely picturesque wedding is one we will remember for a long time.

Kristen Stewart and Dylan Meyer

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="932" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Kristen-Stewart--932x1024.jpeg" alt="bride and bride

Kristen Stewart and screenwriter Dylan Meyer opted for something entirely different and entirely them. The couple married over Easter weekend in an ultra-private celebration that unfolded partly at their Los Angeles home and partly at their favourite Mexican restaurant. The vibe? Relaxed, heartfelt, and effortlessly cool.

The wedding looks were some of the trendiest of the year: a sheer silk mini dress paired with a chic tweed set. No veils, no bouquets, and no bridesmaids just authenticity, comfort, and style. It’s the kind of wedding that proves simplicity can be just as striking as extravagance. This wedding could not have suited them as a couple more!

Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Demi-Lovato-819x1024.webp" alt="bride and groom

From one California celebration to another! Demi Lovato and Jordan Lutes embraced full glamour, wearing not one but three spectacular outfits throughout their Santa Barbara wedding weekend. Demi stunned in two custom Vivienne Westwood gowns before changing into a tailored Lapointe suit that turned heads.

Their wedding included a rehearsal dinner, a romantic ceremony, and arguably the highlight being a special live performance by The Goo Goo Dolls. The couple’s first dance was choreographed and performed live by the band, making the moment unforgettable.

Kim Cattrall and Russell Thomas

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="768" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Kim-Catrall--768x1024.webp" alt="bride and groom

The Sex and the City star married her longtime partner in an intimate ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall. Just 12 guests attended the beautifully private celebration. The bride stunned in a classic Dior suit perfectly suited to the venue, while her new husband looked dapper in a custom Richard James design.

Reflecting on their relationship, Sarah once said, “We’ve been together almost 10 years now, and we’ve had a blast.” The couple first met in 2016 when she appeared on BBC Radio 4 and they clearly never looked back. A heart-warming love story to end a year of fabulous weddings!

Sophie and Rhys

Sophie and Rhys

And we had to save a special mention for one of our very own! This year, Sophie from our team married her now-husband Rhys at the enchanting Lapstone Barn in the Cotswolds. Their countryside celebration was the epitome of fairytale romance, complete with breathtaking florals, twinkling fairy lights and subtle touches of Disney magic woven throughout.

After getting engaged on April Fools’ Day we are so happy to see the pair start their happily ever after! Surrounded by close family and friends this was a true love story come to life and we can’t wait to see more countryside fairytale weddings like this!

We absolutely love celebrity engagements, the moment we get to peek into their personal life. One minute you’re scrolling through Instagram, the next a face you’ve known and loved on screen for years is flashing a huge ring and announcing they’ve found their person. It’s the kind of news that makes us all pause for a second to swoon, screenshot, and gossip a little (in the nicest way). And honestly, 2025 has been packed with celebrity engagements and moments. From surprise announcements to low-key ring sightings, celebrity engagements have completely dominated our feeds this year, and it feels like the ultimate star-studded engagement parade. Every week, it seems like another familiar name is stepping into the spotlight with a sparkling new chapter in their love story, and we are absolutely here for it.

Tom Holland & Zendaya

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Zendaya-1024x683.webp" alt="tom holland and zendaya, celebrity engagement

The year kicked off with Zendaya and Tom Holland, who announced their engagement back in January! Their announcement felt like one of those moments when the whole world collectively gasped and then melted a little. They’ve always had that calm, grounded, quietly obsessed-with-each-other energy, and seeing them take this next step just felt so right. No dramatic reveal, no big performance, just two people who adore each other choosing to make it official in the sweetest, most natural way. It set the tone for the entire year, and honestly, the glow these two give off is incredible. We cannot wait for this wedding.

Jake Paul & Jutta Leerdam

Jutta Leerdam

Jake proposed to Olympic medalist Jutta Leerdam, apparently spending £1 million on the ring! These two have been such a surprising but genuinely lovely pairing, and their news felt like one of those “oh wow, good for them” moments that instantly brightens your scroll. Jutta has brought out this softer, more grounded side of him, and you can really see how happy they make each other. The announcement itself wasn’t wild or dramatic, just confident and full of that loved-up energy they’ve shown from day one. It added a fun little spark to March and definitely kept the 2025 engagement streak feeling strong.

Melanie Hamrick & Mick Jagger

Mick Jagger and Melanie Hamrick

To keep us all on our toes, Melanie Hamrick finally confirmed her engagement to Mick Jagger. Not exactly new, but news that had been under wraps for years. Melanie told Paris Match that they’ve been engaged for two or three years, and honestly, we love how she said that while marriage may not be on the cards, they are perfectly happy as they are. A lovely reminder that love doesn’t have to follow a timeline!

Simu Liu & Allison Hsu

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu announced their engagement on the 11th of May, it was just such a gorgeous little moment. These two always give off the loveliest energy, fun, supportive, and a bit silly in the best way. So when the news dropped, it felt so natural, like of course they’re taking this next step. Nothing over the top, nothing staged within an inch of its life, just a really genuine “this is us, and we’re happy” kind of announcement. It added such a sweet vibe to May and slotted perfectly into this wave of feel-good, heart-melting celebrity love stories we’ve had this year.

Dua lipa & callum turner

Dua Lipa and Callum Turner

In June, the fashion industry started to predict the wedding look for Dua Lipa, after announcing her engagement to Callum Turner on the 12th of June. From the early days, they had that look of two people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company, not just the events and the cameras. So when the engagement news dropped, it didn’t feel like a big celebrity “announcement” at all. It felt like watching two people who have found the right rhythm together choosing to keep building on something that already works. It’s sweet, grounded, and honestly one of the loveliest relationship progressions we’ve seen this year.

JASON SEGAL & Kayla Radomski

Jason Segal and Kayla Radomski

Jason Segel getting engaged honestly feels like one of those surprisingly lovely celebrity moments you don’t see coming. He proposed to Kayla Radomski back in the summer. They’ve only been together a couple of years, but there’s something about them that feels really settled, like they actually make each other’s lives calmer rather than louder. And yes, while we’ll always love him as the lovable, awkwardly charming Marshall from How I Met Your Mother, it’s honestly wonderful to see him finding that same kind of devotion in real life. It’s one of those celeb stories that makes you smile because it feels like an actual relationship, not a headline.

victoria pedretti & ethan delorenzo

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/521587180_18522316948027756_3459957870495856761_n-1024x1024.jpg" alt="victoria pedretti and ethan delorenzo, engaged

Victoria Pedretti and Ethan DeLorenzo announced their engagement on the 21st of July, and honestly, it felt like such a quietly perfect moment. They’ve been together for a few years now, first sparking up when they met through mutual friends in the acting world, and fans have loved watching their relationship grow from low-key appearances and sweet social media hints into this next big step.

Tyrese Haliburton & Jade Jones

Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones

Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones have one of those really sweet, all-American love stories that just make you smile. They first met back at Iowa State University when he was a rising basketball star, and she was the cheerleader lighting up the sidelines, and they’ve been inseparable since 2019. So obviously, when Tyrese got down on one knee in July 2025, it had to be right in the middle of their old college arena, what a perfect full-circle moment. Jade has been by his side through every high, every game, every cross-country move, and seeing them take this next step somewhere so meaningful to both of them is honestly just lovely. It’s wholesome and romantic.

Cristiano Ronaldo & Georgina Rodríguez

Georgina Rodríguez Engagement Ring

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez sent fans around the world into a frenzy, back on August 11th. And can we talk about that ring for a second? Sparkly, dramatic, and totally Ronaldo-like, it basically has its own fan club. As for the wedding? Well, if their past events are anything to go by, we expect something ultra glamorous, whilst remaining intimate, maybe a stunning European villa, all-white florals, possibly a Ferrari, because let’s face it, you can’t do Ronaldo without a touch of speed and luxury. Georgina has always had impeccable taste, and Cristiano knows how to pull off the dramatic and romantic in equal measure, so whatever they choose will be elegant, star-studded, and absolutely jaw-dropping. Honestly, we can’t wait to see what they do.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

And then of course, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce on August 26th! This stopped everything, it had everyone pausing mid-scroll, celebrating and grinning like a Cheshire cat! After months of Swiftie speculation, seeing them take the next step felt so right. And can we talk about that engagement shoot? Perfectly Taylor and Travis, romantic, full of personality, and giving us all the heart eyes.

It’s moments like these that remind us why celebrity engagements never get old, each one bringing its own kind of magic.

Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks announced their engagement on September 11th. They first got together after his split from Miley Cyrus, and ever since, they’ve kept things beautifully low-key, quietly building this calm, steady relationship that just works. Fans couldn’t help but smile at the idea that the Hunger Games love triangle has finally found its peaceful, real-life ending, and it seems like these two are more than ready for their next chapter. Rumour has it they’re planning an Australia wedding, relaxed, sun-soaked, and surrounded by the people who’ve watched their love story grow away from the spotlight. We can’t wait!

How adorable was Camila Mendes’ engagement to Rudy Mancuso? Honestly, it was one of those moments that just made everyone collectively melt. They’ve got this really natural, grounded chemistry, and seeing them take that next step felt so genuinely them. Their engagement announcement on October 25th had that cosy, soft energy that made you want to replay the video twice, and fans absolutely loved how romantic and personal it all felt. After meeting while filming Música and going from colleagues to this incredibly sweet partnership, it’s been so lovely watching them evolve.

Formula One fans, brace yourselves! Charles Leclerc and Alexandra Saint Mleux announced their engagement on Instagram. They were first spotted together back in 2023. Fans saw them together during F1 weekends, and although they kept things low-key, it was clear pretty quickly that they were really well matched. Alexandra is an art history student, often seen travelling with him or cheering him on from the paddock without ever making it about herself. Their engagement in November 2025 felt lovely. Nothing overly flashy, no big performance, just a sweet, sincere moment between two people who are very obviously in their own little world together. It’s the kind of relationship that feels genuinely grounded, even with all the noise of the F1 lifestyle surrounding them.

Getting to the end of 2025, one of the latest additions to the list, Friday Night Dinner star Tom Rosenthal and Gabrielle Sky, shared their news on November 9th, with the cutest photobooth snaps. Gabrielle looked fab, showing off a gorgeous ring, and the photos are the kind of sweet, low-key moment that makes your heart melt. They also welcomed their first child a few months ago, so this feels like a perfect next chapter.

miley cyrus & Maxx morando

Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando

Ok, pause for a second, because the surprise of this month goes to Miley Cyrus. She and musician Maxx Morando have reportedly just gotten engaged after four years together. She stepped out onto the red carpet on December the 2nd, with a chunky, cushion‑cut diamond ring on her left hand. We love that this doesn’t feel like a dramatic headline grab, but all very grown-up.

All in all, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of the celebrity engagements. Big reveals, little reveals, rings caught in candid moments, carefully curated photos, and even long-kept private announcements.

Whether it’s a huge public announcement or a quiet, private moment, each celebrity engagement is a little reminder that love comes in all shapes and sizes. From celebrity to celebrity, from couple to couple, it is fun, exciting and just so beautiful to watch. And as this year keeps giving us more glittering rings and joyful smiles, we can’t wait to see who else will be stepping into this next chapter.

2025 is proving that love really is in the air, and celebrity engagements have been one of the most joyful things to watch unfold. It has been an absolute dream of a year. Will there be any more celebrity engagements squeezed in before the end of the year?

Let’s be honest: one of the trickiest parts of wedding planning isn’t the flowers or the floor plan. It’s family dynamics, and just people in general! And for many couples, the biggest source of stress comes from navigating separated (and often re-partnered) parents. You can be ridiculously excited about for your day, and still feel a knot in your stomach about how everyone will be in the same room, regardless of if relationships are good or bad. If that’s you, then take a breath. You’re not alone, and there are ways, which are going to discuss today, on how to make this feel lighter.

Your feelings are valid

People love to say “don’t worry, it’ll be fine.” “They are adults, let them get on with it”. And however much this should be true, sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn’t. Either way, anxiety doesn’t vanish because someone told you to calm down. It’s okay to acknowledge that this is making you nervous. Naming it is step one; planning for it is step two.

Tackle it early with honest, calm conversations

Awkward chats now prevent drama later. If you’re worried about how your parents (or a parent and stepparent) will be around each other, raise it well in advance, ideally together, if you can. Approaching the conversation as a couple helps you hold your boundaries and ensures you don’t minimise your own needs mid-chat. It also means your partner can step in if the conversation becomes too emotional for you, and also just to show you’re in this conversation together, especially if you feel the conversation could go down the route of your parent saying you’re being ridiculous. Two people with the same opinion is stronger that one.

Whether this is just an initial conversation to say that you are concerned, or a conversation to tell them how you want things to happen, ie. step parents involved in tradtiions, such as step dad walking you down the aisle, don’t avoid the conversation and leave it until near to the date. Speaking from experience, this will cause more negative emotions than nipping it in the bud when you start planning.

If emotions run high or a parent bristles at the topic, anchor back to the truth: it’s your wedding. You’re not accusing; you’re informing, kindly and clearly.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/118-R62B0146-1024x683.jpeg" alt="wedding day

Boundaries in your wedding planning aren’t rude. They’re a kindness

Setting your wedding boundaries tell people how to love you well. Decide at the beginning of your wedding planning what your boundaries are with divorced parents. Be specific and proactive:

Arrival times: “We’d love you at the venue from 12:30, not before.”

Getting ready spaces: “Morning prep is just bridal party and Mum. We’ll see everyone else at the ceremony.”

Photo lists: “We’re keeping group photos short; here’s who’s included.”

Speeches: “We’re having two speeches: Best Man and Maid of Honour. No others.”

Top table/seat placement: “We’re not doing a traditional top table.”

Have these conversations, and for things like photo lists, these are great to ping out to parents before the day, more as an FYI so they know when they will need to be around, but actually, you are showing them photos that you do want to get, for example if you want a photo with biological mum and dad, without step parents or partners but know this could cause an issue on the day.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="960" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/IMG_5475-1.jpeg" alt="bride

When compromise helps (and when it doesn’t)

You shouldn’t compromise on your peace or your core vision. But where you’re genuinely flexible, compromise can diffuse tension and still feel meaningful. One lovely example we’ve seen is a bride with a father and stepfather who both mattered greatly. Her solution? Dad walked her halfway, stepdad walked the rest. Not right for everyone, but a middle ground so everyone is included.

If you’re navigating “who does what,” and trying to include step parents, try explaining to your parent how much they mean to you, but also how lucky you are to have great step parents who you want to involve. If you’re trying to avoid involving step parents and partners, explain how you would love to include everyone, from best friends, to siblings, but it would be too much, so you’re keeping it simple.

Try and come up with a plan with your other half, before having the conversation you’re your parents. Involve them in the how—without surrendering the what.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="682" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BK_WED38-682x1024.jpeg" alt="bride

Morning logistics

Wedding mornings set the tone for the day. If there are tensions, this could really affect your mindset, and you will already be feeling emotional as it is.

Hair & make-up guest list: It’s perfectly normal for this to be bridal party only. If a parent’s partner expects to join, it’s okay to say no. Perhaps offer to get a price for them to have it in their room.

Staggered timings: If you do want both mums present but they don’t get along, give them different hair & make-up slots so they don’t overlap.

Protect your location: Don’t share room numbers if you’re concerned about unplanned drop-ins. “We’ll meet you at the venue at 12:30” is enough. Make sure venues/hotel reception/co-ordinators etc are aware of who you want in the room in case of any unexpected arrivals. Don’t feel like you need to answer your phone to any calls asking you where you are – you shouldn’t be having to answer your phone on your wedding morning anyway!

Etiquette as a shield: If you need an excuse, lean on etiquette: traditionally, Dad meets you at the ceremony, not in the prep room. Get your co-ordinator to back to up if needs be and also lean on what makes the logistics easier. “It’s quite far to get from the room to the ceremony. There will be the whole bridal party around, so I will just meet you outside the ceremony doors.”

Venue – Stowe House

Wedding seating plans that actually reduce stress

The classic long top table can feel like a pressure cooker if you have multiple sets of parents and partners. Consider:

Sweetheart table: Just the two of you. Zero seating politics. You can circulate between courses and greet everyone.

Friends only table: Sit with your wedding party and place parents on separate tables where they’ll be comfortable.

All round tables (no long top table): Name tables instead of numbering, and skip a designated top table entirely. No hierarchy, no feelings hurt.

Long banqueting tables: Pop yourselves in the middle; seat parents further away (and apart) so no one feels sidelined, but everyone gets breathing room.

Photo by V and H Photography

The roles question: who walks, who speaks, who sits?

Blended families create grey areas. Decide what feels authentic, then communicate it clearly.

Processional: Dad, stepdad, Mum, brother, do it on your own (that’s what I did!) There’s no single right answer. If two people are important, split the aisle or involve one in a first look and the other in the walk.

Speeches: If giving the mic to one parent creates political fallout, consider keeping speeches to your wedding party only. Or invite both parents to share a short joint toast with time limits.

Top table: If top table politics feel fraught, don’t have one. It’s your table plan – build it around atmosphere, not obligation.

Gifts and public thank yous

Traditional “thank-you bouquets in speeches” are less common now for a reason – they can be awkward with divorced or re-partnered parents and can inflame comparisons. Quiet, private thank yous are elegant and equitable. If you’d like to give flowers, repurpose table arrangements and hand them out at the end of the wedding.

What to do if a parent digs their heels in

Some people struggle to see a different perspective, especially where pride is involved. If someone won’t budge, make sure you are reiterating your why and explaining how your decisions are what you make you happiest. Make sure you stick to your guns, or you will regret it. You are not responsible for an adult’s reaction to your boundary.

It can be painful, but your wedding day isn’t the place to test reconciliation or referee old battles. Protect your enjoyment of your day that you’ve been waiting for for a long time.

Timeline clarity = fewer collisions

Publish a clear, guest-friendly timeline on your wedding website, or even if it’s just in your parents’ WhatsApp:

Arrival windows (not early!)

Ceremony time and where each parent should wait/enter

Drinks reception photo plan

Dinner call time and seating notes

When speeches happen

Anything else you think could cause issues

When sticking to your guns changes relationships

Here’s the heartfelt truth: holding your boundary may disappoint someone. It may change a relationship. And still, many couples tell us they’re grateful they protected their day, and I also experienced this myself and it was the best thing I did, even though it didn’t feel it at the time. You will remember how the day felt – light, relaxed, you. That matters.

You don’t have to carry this alone. Remember to be honest and have these conversations early. Set expectations clearly, lean on logistics, and choose layouts and traditions that serve your happiness, not someone else’s ego or happiness. Blended families can absolutely coexist beautifully at a wedding; they just need thought, and kind, firm boundaries.

If you’re navigating a specific tangle (seating politics, step-parent roles, competing expectations), get in touch. We’re always happy to help you map a plan that keeps the joy front and centre.

Many couples across the UK are now wondering what British wedding traditions they should include in their celebrations, what they are, and, quite frankly, why we even do them?! While today’s weddings are often more personal and creative than ever, many couples still choose to weave in nods to British heritage, and many also just feel like it wouldn’t be a wedding without them!

Whether you’re a lover of all things classic or just curious about the origins of that silver sixpence in your shoe, this blog explores 13 (unlucky?!) of the best-known British wedding traditions, and how you might choose to honour them in a way that feels truly you.

1. Something Old, Something New…

“Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue — and a silver sixpence in your shoe.” Perhaps the most iconic British wedding tradition of all, this rhyme dates back to the Victorian era and is all about bringing good luck to the bride.

Something old represents continuity and the connection to your past, which often comes in the form of a family heirloom, a piece of lace from your mum’s dress perhaps, or vintage jewellery.

Something new stands for optimism and the future, this could be your dress, veil or even your new initials!

Something borrowed is usually from a happily married friend or relative, symbolising the passing on of good fortune.

Something blue represents fidelity, purity, and love. Think a blue ribbon stitched inside your dress, a sapphire ring, or even blue shoes.

A silver sixpence in your shoe (the lesser-known fifth line) was traditionally placed in the bride’s left shoe to bring prosperity and wealth. Some wedding shoes already have this built in!

Many modern couples, not just brides, are finding creative, personal ways to make this tradition their own, often incorporating heritage pieces with a modern twist. Some just completely forget to even include these things, and if it doesn’t mean much to you, then we say don’t worry!

2. Not Seeing Each Other Before the Ceremony

The tradition of the couple not seeing each other before the ceremony has its roots in arranged marriages, where it was considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the vows were made — just in case one of them got cold feet!

Today, many couples still embrace this custom as a way of preserving the anticipation and emotion of that first look at the aisle. But there’s also a growing trend towards first look photos which gives you a private moment before the ceremony begins, often captured beautifully and naturally by the photographer. This works well for couples who are really nervous about walking down the aisle and being the centre of attention. Through conversations with couples recently, I’ve had a few say they wish they had actually stayed with their other half the night before as they would have slept better! I personally stayed with my other half for our elopement before we legally wed, and it was so nice to have a nice chilled breakfast together in the morning before getting ready.

3. Confetti and the Ceremony Exit

Throwing confetti as the couple leaves the ceremony is a really nice moment to capture, plus it’s a deeply symbolic one! Originally, guests would throw rice, grain, or petals to wish fertility and prosperity. The word “confetti” actually comes from the Italian tradition of throwing sugared almonds at parades and celebrations.

In Britain, paper confetti became popular in the 19th century, and today, we see everything from dried rose petals and lavender to biodegradable paper circles, and even bubbles instead of confetti! We absolutely love the use of paper and it’s floats so nicely! Dried petals can be a nightmare to dig out of your dress and hair…

Top tip: Check your venue’s policy on confetti – many ask for biodegradable only, or may have designated areas where it can be used.

Photographer – Jamie Dunn Photography

4. Wearing a Veil

Historically, the bridal veil symbolised modesty and purity, and in some cases, was used to ward off evil spirits. In arranged marriages, it also served a practical purpose – obscuring the bride’s face until the ceremony was complete!

Today, veils are entirely optional and often chosen as a style statement rather than a symbol. From cathedral-length showstoppers to simple tulle styles or even whimsical birdcage veils, they’re a beautiful way to add a touch of tradition while expressing personal style.

What is a the difference between a blusher veil and a drop veil?

A blush veil has the piece which can be moved to cover the face, and a drop veil is just for the back of the head, with no face covering. It’s quite rare now that people cover their faces with a veil.

Brides tend to keep their veil on during the ceremony and drinks reception, and remove it when seated for dinner, as you may find it annoying!

5. Walking Down the Aisle with Your Father

Traditionally, the bride is escorted down the aisle by her father and “given away” to the groom. A symbolic handover that stems from the time when women were seen as property to be passed between families.

It is still a very popular tradition for the bride to walk with her dad, but we have seen this altered on many occasions, such as walking down the aisle with both parents, a sibling, a close friend, or walking in together. Some even choose to walk in solo (like I did!).

I think it all comes down to your beliefs, and what you feel comfortable in doing. Every family has different relationships. My advice would be to stick with what you want to do.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/246-CHR60288-683x1024.jpg" alt="wedding

6. Wedding Breakfast

The term “wedding breakfast” often confuses guests, especially international ones! But the phrase doesn’t refer to the time of day; it simply means the couple’s first meal together after being married, so essentially, the wedding ‘dinner’!

Rooted in tradition, it symbolises breaking the fast after the wedding ceremony, particularly in religious services where the couple may have fasted beforehand. Today, the wedding breakfast is your reception meal — whether it’s a formal three-course menu, a relaxed sharing feast, or an alfresco BBQ, but we still seem to have adopted this title for the part of the day in the UK!

7. The Wedding Cake

British weddings have long featured a tiered cake, dating back to medieval times when guests would stack small buns on top of one another, and the couple would try to kiss over the pile without knocking it down (a sign of future prosperity! There seems to be a lot about properity and fertility in British traditions!).

The modern version, which was a multi-tiered fruitcake covered in white icing, became popular in the Victorian era. The tiers were said to represent wealth and status, with the top tier traditionally saved for the christening of the couple’s first child. The bigger the cake, the wealthier you were.

While few couples opt for fruitcake today, many couples do still opt for a wedding cake as part of their day, along with a cake cutting. We generally advise to display the cake on the dancefloor, cut it just before the first dance, and your caterer will whip it away for you to go straight into your first dance – saves you gathering all the guests twice! We generally do a little countdown into you doing the cut, then ask you to share your first slice of cake together which always makes for a fun photo!

8. Speeches and Toasts

British wedding speeches are a tradition in themselves. Full of humour, heartfelt sentiment, and occasionally, a few nerves and dodgy stories! The traditional order is:

Father of the bride

Groom

Best man

But many couples now choose a more inclusive line-up (not just all men!) with speeches from the bride, maid of honour, or even a joint thank-you speech from the couple. It’s a lovely way to personalise the day and include more voices.

We would advise to still try and keep to just 3 or 4 speeches, and ask your speakers to have a time cap of 5 minutes. It’s plenty of time for a speech, as you really don’t want to go on too long!

9. First Dance

The first dance as a married couple is a romantic finale to the formal part of the day, marking the start of the partaaaay! Traditionally, the couple take to the floor alone, before being joined by parents, wedding party, and guests.

Whether it’s a carefully choreographed number or a relaxed sway to your favourite song, it’s a chance to pause, connect, and soak in the magic of the moment, and also makes for some lovely photos!

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/648-R62B1437-1024x683.jpg" alt="wedding

10. The Bouquet Toss

One of the most playful wedding traditions, the bouquet toss, dates back to Victorian times. Back then, it was considered lucky to touch the bride, so guests would sometimes rush at her to snag a piece of her dress or flowers for good fortune. To escape the crowd, especially for ladies, when strangers would try and get in on this tradition, brides began tossing their bouquets into the air as a distraction, and the tradition stuck! Today, it’s quite rare we see this. Many bride’s want to keep their bouquet or have it preserved, but it can be a fun moment, especially for that superstitious friend waiting to get engaged, often with lots of laughter and a little friendly competition!

11. Carrying the Bride Over the Threshold

This tradition is steeped in superstition and symbolism. In Roman times, it was believed that evil spirits lurked at the threshold of a new home and could enter through the soles of the bride’s feet. Carrying her over the threshold was a way to protect her and begin married life with good fortune. Today, it’s more of a romantic gesture!

12. The White Wedding Dress

Thanks to Queen Victoria, white wedding dresses became the ultimate symbol of bridal fashion. When she married Prince Albert in 1840 wearing a white gown (a bold move at the time), she set a trend that still dominates today. While white is often associated with purity, it originally represented wealth and status, as white fabric was expensive and difficult to maintain, so only the rich wore white. These days, it’s simply the classic bridal look—but modern couples are increasingly choosing soft pastels, bold colours, or even black for a personalised twist.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/BM-LISAJANEPHOTO-0133-683x1024.jpg" alt="wedding

13. Exchanging Rings

This ancient tradition goes back thousands of years to the Egyptians, who believed a circular band symbolised eternity. The idea of placing it on the fourth finger of the left hand, now known as the “ring finger”, came from the belief that a vein (the vena amoris) ran directly from that finger to the heart. Today, wedding rings remain one of the most recognisable and meaningful symbols of being married, and is one that we see most from modern couples.

Honouring Tradition, Your Way

British wedding traditions offer a sense of charm, history, and ritual that many couples treasure, but the beauty of modern weddings lies in your freedom to pick and choose. Whether you embrace every tradition or just one or two that feel meaningful, it’s all about creating a day that reflects who you are as a couple, and what resonates most with you. If you aren’t going to enjoy a confetti shot, or a first dance, then don’t do them!

When you think about wedding planning or even just attending a wedding, you probably picture a big white frosted cake, stacked high with flowers or designed like something you screenshotted on Pinterest in 2015. But have you ever stopped to wonder why do we even have a wedding cakes? Where did that tradition come from? And who’s still saving the top- tier for their baby’s christening?

Let’s look at what’s trending in 2025 and get real honest: do we even need a cake?

Let’s slice into it (sorry, had to).

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3382 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-LAURENDITIE359-683x1024.jpg" alt="White Wedding cake, with gold foil.
Timi Oshin Studios

Why Do We Have Wedding Cakes Anyway?

Wedding cakes have been a thing for a very long time. Back to Ancient Rome, instead of cutting a cake, they’d break a loaf of barley bread over the bride’s head for luck. Romantic, right? Nothing says true love like a carb-based concussion.

Then in Medieval times, people would stack pastries into a tower, very me, and if the couple could kiss over it without knocking it down, it was said to bring good fortune! A high-stakes pastry Jenga, you could say!

Fast forward to royalty and the upper classes, who went all in on tiered, sugar-loaded, flamboyant cakes displaying a sign of wealth and fortune. And now? We still love a good tradition, and cake is definitely one of them! Whether it’s fancy, low key or gluten-free, you’re pretty much guaranteed cake at a wedding.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" class="wp-image-3383 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-JRP_EM_1574-683x1024.jpg" alt="Doughnut Tower, wedding.
Joanna Ranson Photography

Why Cakes Are Still a Big Deal?

There’s just something about a wedding cake that just makes it feel official. Even if you’re not big on sweets, the act of cutting the cake together is kind of iconic. It’s a part of the day, and it’s symbolic of your first “task” as a married couple, and let’s be honest, it’s the tastiest one. .

Historically, cakes were linked to fertility and prosperity. The white icing was once a status symbol because refined sugar was expensive. Today it’s more about celebration, tradition, and that one part of the night where everyone gathers around, phones out, waiting for you to stab a cake with a giant knife. Beautiful.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="679" class="wp-image-3384 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-AbiCharlie-FILM-6-1024x679.jpg" alt="Bride and Groom, Cake Cutting, Wedding.
Wedding Cake Trends We’re Loving In 2025

This year is full of beautiful cake inspiration, and we are loving what we are seeing.

Pressed flowers and botanical designs are still in, made with edible petals pressed into buttercream to create a soft, romantic garden vibe..

Big (and we mean big), bold single tier cakes, topped with fresh fruit, are making a serious statement, and they look especially dramatic when cut with a sword..

Mini, one per guest cakes these are really cute and so easy to serve, especially if using your cake as dessert (more on that in a bit).

Flavour-wise, we’re seeing lots of couples branching out. Pistachio and rose, chai spice, lemon and lavender are all having a moment. Of course, red velvet and chocolate are still firm favourites, but it’s great to see people getting more adventurous.

Sustainability is also key. Couples are opting for local ingredients, minimal waste, and choosing to work with bakeries that take an eco-friendly approach.

And best of all, we’re seeing a rise in inclusive baking. That means cakes without eggs, butter or gluten, that still taste amazing and look absolutely stunning. Guests with dietary requirements don’t have to miss out, and nothing has to be hidden away “out the back” anymore.

Fineshades Studios

But What If You Don’t Want a Big Cake?

Honestly, you’re not alone. More and more couples are skipping the traditional tiered cake and choosing something that feels more personal to them.

Doughnuts are having a serious moment. Whether displayed on a wall or stacked in towers, they’re fun, tasty, and super easy to serve.

Cupcakes continue to be a classic choice. They’re cute, completely customisable with flavours and decorations, and can be styled to look just as striking as a traditional cake.

Macarons are another favourite. A pyramid of perfectly coloured macarons is both beautiful and delicious—and they photograph like a dream.

One option we can’t get enough of is the dessert grazing table. Think macarons, mini cakes, cake pops, chocolate covered pretzels and all the sweet treats you can imagine. It’s a real showstopper and gives your guests plenty of variety.

Not a fan of sweets at all? That’s fine too. Enter the pork pie tower. It’s hearty, savoury, and especially brilliant for the evening food. Add some chutneys and cheese on the side and you’ve got a winning combo.

Whatever you go for, the idea is the same: something sweet (or savoury!) that reflects your vibe.

Dan Shoots Weddings

Making the Cake the Main Dessert

A really smart trend we’re seeing is using the wedding cake as the main dessert. It makes so much sense, both logistically and financially.

By serving the cake as dessert, you can cut it at the start of the meal while all your guests are seated and paying attention. It also means you can skip the cost of a separate dessert course altogether.

Guests are much more likely to eat the cake when it’s served as part of the meal, and you can elevate it with beautiful plating. Add some berries, a drizzle of coulis or a fancy sweet sauce, and you’ve got something that feels special.

Plus, it puts the cake in the spotlight it deserves, not just wheeled out during the awkward post-speech lull.

Agnes Black

Or… Maybe No Cake At All?

Here’s the truth. You absolutely do not need to have a cake. If it doesn’t feel like your thing, skip it. No big deal

Choosing to eliminate the cake gives you room in the budget for other things, maybe a few extra cocktails, live music, or something fabulous for the honeymoon. It also removes the pressure of making yet another decision in the planning process.

And if you still want to offer guests a treat, just do it your way. A surprise round of espresso martinis during dancing? A late-night s’mores bar? All brilliant options.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="819" class="wp-image-3393 aligncenter" src="https://hannahroseweddings.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Copy-of-BM-LISAJANEPHOTO-1411-1-1024x819.jpg" alt="Espresso Martinis, Bride & Groom.
Lisa Jane Photography

Final Thoughts (or the Last Bite)

Wedding cakes have come a long way since Roman bread-smashing and medieval pastry towers. Whether you go classic tiered, totally alternative, or skip it altogether, your wedding day should reflect you.

Sweet, simple, full of flavour. Just like love, really. So, go ahead. Eat cake, or cheese, or doughnuts. Or nothing at all. And enjoy every second of it.

On a beautiful spring Saturday, M&P celebrated their love with a Bridgerton themed wedding, which was of course, nothing short of spectacular! This beautiful day seamlessly blended timeless elegance with thoughtful, personal touches, all set against the incredible backdrop of Stowe School, a Grade I-listed country house in Buckinghamshire. From a sentimental church ceremony to a Bridgerton-inspired wedding reception filled with grandeur, I’m here to tell you all about every moment of the day, which was infused with charm and sophistication.

Not sure where to start with your wedding planning? Read How To Start Wedding Planning, The Ultimate Guide

A Ceremony Steeped in Family Tradition

The day began at Cottisford Church, a place with deep family ties for the bride. Nestled in her parents’ village, this charming church had witnessed generations of family weddings, including those of her parents and grandparents. It was the perfect setting for the couple to start their married life together.

The intimate ceremony featured traditional elements, three heartfelt readings, and beautiful music from an organist. The bride’s arrival was a highlight in itself—she travelled in a pale blue ribbon-adorned Rolls Royce, accompanied by her dad. After exchanging vows, the newlyweds stepped outside to a shower of confetti and paused under the picturesque gate archway for a traditional family photograph!

Drinks Reception in the North Hall

Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the stunning Stowe School for the drink’s reception in the North Hall. With its grand architecture and elegant decor, the hall perfectly matched the couples Bridgerton wedding theme. Guests were welcomed with glasses of prosecco and an assortment of Portfolio Events’ house canapés, while a string quartet played modern tunes, (including the bride’s favourite – Taylor Swift!) creating an air of sophistication, and very in keeping with the theme.

Adding to the charm was Lauren Marie Studio, a live painter who captured pictures of the guests attending, and painted them onto a postcard. This thoughtful touch not only entertained guests but also provided each guest with a stunning keepsake. This worked instead of a favour on the table.

A Grand Reception in the Marble Hall

As guests moved into the Marble Hall for the wedding breakfast, they were greeted by a scene of grand Bridgerton elegance which really wowed everyone who entered! The room was decorated in a powder blue and white colour palette, reflecting the couple’s theme. Sky-blue tablecloths, paired beautifully with patterned charger plates and goblets, while Bloomfields Flowers elevated the space with towering floral centrepieces and delicate bud vases, incorporating a splash of peach tones within the blue hydrangeas.

The tables were meticulously set, featuring personalised menus, and a blue macaron favour at each place setting. The attention to detail created an inviting and luxurious atmosphere.

Culinary Delights Fit for Royalty

When it came to the food, the couple ensured their guests enjoyed a culinary experience as grand as their Bridgerton-inspired wedding celebration. Portfolio Events delivered a carefully curated choice menu, starting with an array of elegant starters: chicken liver parfait, roasted goat cheese and cherry tomato, or smoked salmon mousse.

For the main course, guests had the option of tender feather blade beef accompanied by horseradish mash, chicken supreme with creamy dauphinoise potato, or a beautifully prepared roasted butternut squash risotto. The meal concluded with indulgent desserts: a classic sticky toffee pudding (my favourite!) or a rich chocolate brownie. Which would you choose?!

The cake table was another showstopper. At the centre was a simple fondant cake adorned with intricate sugar flowers, with the top tier cleverly crafted as a false layer. Surrounding the main cake was an array of mini cakes and desserts, styled to complement the couple’s theme, with some floral arrangements from the church, repurposed to create a stunning, impactful display.

Evening Elegance in the Temple Room

As the sun set, the festivities continued in the Temple Room, where the evening reception brought a lively yet intimate vibe. The White Rooms Band took to the stage for two high-energy sets, while a DJ kept the dance floor buzzing between performances. The couple chose Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love for their first dance, sharing this magical moment before inviting guests to join them on the floor for their second dance to Burning Love. Choosing a second dance is a great way of making sure the dancefloor is busy from the very beginning, as you know what your guests are going to want to hear!

For evening snacks, guests were treated to bacon baps, ensuring everyone had the energy to keep dancing well into the night. Guests were invited to buy the couple’s signature drinks: whisky and coke for the groom and gin and tonic for the bride. These small, personal touches added an extra layer of personalisation to the celebration.

Unique Touches and Memorable Moments

From start to finish, this Bridgerton inspired wedding was filled with thoughtful details that made the day truly special. Some of the most memorable moments for me included:

Traditional Family Photo: Displaying wedding photos from family members at the church gates created a touching homage to their legacy of love.

Transport: The golf buggy ride around Stowe’s grounds was a fun and unique way to capture some magical couple’s photos in the most amazing spots.

Live Painter: Lauren Marie Studio’s artwork not only entertained guests but also gave them a reminder of the day to take away with them.

Flowers: The flowers were incredible and really set the tone for the day! They were then given as gifts to guests at the end of the night to enjoy, so they weren’t wasted.

It’s safe to say we’re still obsessed with all things weddings—especially celebrity weddings! From jaw-dropping venues to breathtaking dresses, we’re here to relive the most iconic celebrity weddings of 2024. Let’s dive into our favourite wedding moments of the year!

Anant & Radhika

Let’s start with the sensational Ambani wedding! It has been quoted as the “wedding of the year” and you can guarantee we enjoyed every element.

When it comes to grandeur, the Ambanis never disappoint! Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding was a real experience, blending tradition and extravagance. Held over several days at the Ambani family’s Mumbai residence, Antilia, the celebrations featured breathtaking floral installations, live performances, and rituals steeped in Indian culture.

Radhika looked radiant in a red Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga, adorned with intricate embroidery and jewels, while Anant wore a cream sherwani embellished with gold. Highlights? A stunning Baraat procession, fireworks, live dhol players, topped with a star-studded guest list, and a reception dinner featuring an exclusive menu by Michelin-starred chefs.

Vicky & Ercan

My Big Fat Geordie wedding indeed! Vicky Pattison and Ercan Ramadan tied the knot in a very chic ceremony at London’s Marylebone town hall known for its classic intimate setting for the legal part of their marriage before flying to the Amalfi Coast for their main ceremony at Castello Monaci, nothing short of a Mediterranean dream! Vicky went for more than one dress for her wedding day. Suzanne Neville and The Wedding Club worked to ensure she looked stunning in every single part of the celebration!

Millie & Jake

Another Bride in gorgeous dresses in Italy, Millie Bobby Brown married Jake Bongiovi at the stunning Villa Cetinale. Millie wore four dresses across the occasion, for the wedding ceremony, she wore a custom Galia Lahav gown, working with designers to create her customisations. Later changing into a vintage-style Valentino dress for their couples photos, an Oscar de la Renta short dress for the reception and another Oscar de la Renta full gown to cut the cake! Millie’s four-dress approach not only showed her love for fashion but also ensured each element of the day had it’s own unique vibe.

The flowers, oh wow! A huge white flower arch was absolutely stunning and they also had one of our favourite bands, Sensation Band, performing for their guests!

Rebel & Ramona

Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma married on the Italian island of Sardinia, a truly romantic spot where they had holidayed before. They organised the wedding in 3 months and an important part of the wedding for Rebel was obviously the music, flying in a 20-piece band led and produced by Alessandro De Angelis

Rebel and Ramona stunned in a duet of Pronovias dresses in a Mikado fabric, classic elegance, styled individually. Rebels corseted princess gown looked stunning next to Ramona’s A-line silhouette, matching perfectly.

Josh & Jordan

“In a *light* blizzard” Josh Radnor and Dr Jordan Jacobs married at the Cedar Lakes Estate in Hudson Valley, in upstate New York, in a heartwarming moment, outdoors, during a major snowstorm!

Guests and suppliers had to stay the night as they were unable to travel due to the snow and ice!

Guests received welcome bags on arrival, including incense sticks, an incense dish, CBD tincture and an ‘intention kit’ with paper a pen and a note reading “‘We find that setting an intention can be a helpful way to drop in and calibrate your internal compass to true north”

Lana Del Ray & Jeremy

The Lovely Lana announced her romance with Jeremy Dufrene, jut one month before they wed in an intimate ‘relaxed, family-focused’ ceremony by the water in Louisiana, where Jeremy operates his popular swamp boat tours and where they first met.

We haven’t seen any official photos other than those released here, and no information about the dress, sad face!

Zoe & Danny

Influencer and sister to Molly-Mae, Zoe Hague married her military fiance Danny Rae at the gorgeous Inn on the Lake at Ullswater, in the Lake District National Park. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony, with the British weather on their side, with the clouds parting and blue skies and majestic mountains – Hannah’s idea of a perfect backdrop!

The night before the wedding, the wedding party enjoyed a scenic lake cruise aboard the Ullswater steamer to start the celebrations. For the wedding itself, Zoe wore a fitted strapless dress from The White Closet, florals from the talented Amelia Rose Florals featured a white floral arch, flower meadows for the ceremony and stunning hand bouquets for the bridal party. Following the ever-popular trend of an outfit change, Zoe’s second dress was a beautiful shorter-style ivory dress and Danny changed into a different suit, after a shower first!

Adele & Rich

Adele has been keeping us on our toes, she has been dropping cryptic hints about her wedding to Rich Paul. If you try to find out information about Adele’s wedding online, you won’t find it! She keeps teasing us all, referring to Rich as her husband and responding to Alan Carr’s asking his audience if anyone has got married recently with an “I did” but she did confirm in August they are not married, yet! So 2025, Adele, we want to see your wedding!

Hannah & Martyn

Okay, not necessarily celebrity weddings, but one I couldn’t miss out on! Our Hannah Rose married her very own Mr Right, Martyn. Hannah and Martyn met through a friend on a night out, and as she says “The rest is history”!

The wedding celebrations started with the legal bit taking place in the registry office, afterwards, Hannah swapped her pink wedding shoes for her climbing boots, and they along with 2 photographers, a videographer and 2 friends climbed Snowdon to read their vows to one another!

Hannah and Martyn continued to celebrate their wedding with Friends and Family a couple of weeks later at home in Northamptonshire, with an outdoor ceremony, in true British style the rain only started 1 minute before the end of the ceremony!
PART ONE

Wedding planning isn’t always easy! I have had so many questions about planning my own wedding while I am a wedding planner myself, working in the wedding industry, so the lovely Chloe who works alongside me has decided to put together some FAQs we have been getting from you all to talk all about my own wedding!

****

Hey! It’s Chloe! I have had the opportunity and pleasure to chat to Hannah all about her own wedding planning and wedding day! She is known for her attention to detail, great taste and “will do anything!” attitude, she has built her career out of making other people’s dreams come true.

Now as she steps into the role of a Bride, we have the rare opportunity to flip the narrative and see how she has brought her own wedding to life, learn what she has learnt, and follow the emotions of a Bride planning her own wedding, as a wedding planner.

How did you and Martyn meet? We met through friends on a night out! It was a bit of a whirlwind as he lived in Bedfordshire and I was in Norfolk, so we were travelling to see each other. Martyn then moved to Birmingham, which was even further, so he asked me to move with him! After just 3 months….and the rest is history!

How did the proposal go? It was amazing and completely unexpected! We are both into hiking, so we hiked Snowdon and then took the trail up to Y Lliwedd, which was a really quiet mountain peak, so it was super private! I didn’t have a clue that it was happening!! Martyn is very much into photography and videography, so it was very normal that he would put a drone up into the sky and ask me to stand somewhere so he could video the landscape. This is what he did before he proposed and so we have it all on film! You can see it over on Instagram!

Photography: Erin O’Keeffe

What did you do for your Hen and Stag? Martyn went to Wales for the weekend and camped, did some activities etc and we rented a house in Cambridgeshire for the weekend! We both kept it very much ‘us’. We didn’t want the typical hen/stag parties focused around drinking!

Why did you decide on an elopement and a separate wedding day? Being in the industry for so many years, I have seen MANY civil ceremonies, and I just don’t feel they are completely personal to the couple. I wanted to get the legal part done separately, and then have a really personal service on the wedding day. The elopement then turned into more of a celebration, which was completely different and very much us, which we LOVED! There is no way we could have had that wedding with family and friends there, so we are really glad we made that decision and had the experience of the elopement!

What bits of the wedding were the easiest to plan? Finding suppliers as I know so many amazing ones. It was in ways, also difficult, as I then had to choose from them all! Also, the elopement, as we kept it so stripped back.

What did Martyn plan? He was very much involved in final decisions. He also sorted the suits for himself and his best man, along with his elopement suit, shoes etc. We both made all the final decisions on music, flow of the day, etc. He also very much wanted a pianist. As Martyn is really into his photography, he did the research on local photographers.

Photography: Erin O’Keeffe

Let’s talk elopement quickly first!

How did you come up with the decision to climb Snowdon for an elopement, why was it so important to you? The first time we climbed Snowdon was one of our stand-out experiences together, and it really got us into hiking. We also got engaged there, so it had to be done! It was also really important for us to have a very personal day!

How did it work, how did you make it a legal wedding ceremony? We got married at the registry office first, then drove 20 minutes to start the climb with our 2 photographers, videographer and 2 friends who carried our bags with food, water etc.

How was climbing Snowdon in your wedding outfits? Everybody kept saying ‘Wow you will struggle in a dress’, but I chose a dress which was a beautiful material and had a slit, so I was fine! Martyn did slightly struggle in tight trousers though…

What did you do after the climb to celebrate? Due to a group of us climbing, the time of the ceremony and stopping for photos etc, we didn’t actually get back down until 8pm, so we went and got pizza which we ate in our van in a beautiful park up. We were knackered so it was an early night!!

What is your biggest takeaway from that experience? Always follow your heart and do what YOU want to do! So many people thought we were crazy and didn’t really understand the idea, but this didn’t deter us! The elopement was literally perfect, there wasn’t a single thing I would change. The weather was amazing to us, and it will forever be the best day of my life.

Photography: Erin O’Keeffe

Let’s talk about your wedding day!

How did you feel moments before your wedding? Excited! I just wanted to get going! The emotions kicked in literally as I was about to walk down the aisle! I was absolutely fine all morning, just excited.

What was the most special part of your wedding? A stand-out moment for me was during our drinks reception. We hired an acoustic guitarist who was amazing, and we danced together with our friends and family – anyone would have thought it was the evening reception at that point! Also, absolutely loved Martyn’s speech. The morning was also really special for me, everyone was so excited and so happy with their hair and makeup. It was a lovely chilled morning.

We want to know about the planning! What was the number 1 most stressful thing about your wedding planning? People’s input. People who wanted to get involved in a negative way. It’s very stressful trying to manage other people’s emotions and what they think you should do.

Photography: Erin O’Keeffe

You must get asked this as a planner quite a bit, there is always a debate on how long you need to plan for a wedding! How long were you actively planning for? We got engaged in August 2022 and started thinking about what we wanted to do. We knew straight away what we wanted to do for the elopement, but we didn’t actually book our venue for the wedding day until Jan 2023, so planning started then really, so around a year and a half. We would have loved to have had the wedding in 2023 but the diary didn’t allow it! And I am so glad now that we didn’t go for 2023 as that would have been busy!!

How did you decide on 2 wedding dresses? Originally, did you want them to be similar or different to one another? I got my elopement dress pretty quickly! It was one of the first things I did. I knew I had to be able to climb in it, and I really wanted a long-sleeved dress. For the wedding day, I wanted a different vibe, and something more fitted. I actually bought this dress on the 1st outing! I only tried it on because my sister-in-law liked it and wanted me to try it on! I knew in my head the kind of thing I wanted, although I did end up with something quite different! Just with elements such as spaghetti straps and a plunge front.

How did you decide on your Bridesmaids dresses? And how was organising dresses with your Bridesmaid’s not living local? They made their own decision on dresses! I gave them the colour scheme and they chose what they wanted, so they could go off and shop for themselves. I ordered swatches for the colours so they knew what colour to get.

Photography: Erin O’Keeffe

In Part Two Hannah will be letting us in on food choices, honeymoon and planning as a planner with her own reflections and advice for all of you lovely couples!
