Patterned and Coloured Tablecloths

I’ve always been a big fan of both coloured and patterned linen, and now they are being requested more than ever! Linens can really help pull your colour schemes together, whether you are looking for a dark and moody vibe or a brighter, lighter palette. Patterned tablecloths are great to use if you want to use minimal décor, as you don’t need to add much more to the tables once these are laid. We are a huge fan of Maison Margaux patterned linen, which you can see below!

Candle tubes

These are definitely becoming all the rage! They are a great addition to your wedding décor, especially great if your venue has stipulated that you can’t have an open flame, as well as looking stunning, and adding a very contemporary look to your day. Either style them alongside a floral centrepiece or have them as a centrepiece of their own!

silver

Is gold on the way out? Silver is making a comeback! Last year, I was still being asked for gold everything, from charger plates and rimmed glasses, to cutlery and candle holders, and while I still love the gold, I equally love silver and think it can really work with certain colour palettes, especially teamed up with beautiful glassware, vases and candle holders. It works especially well with green tones, which are also very popular right now!

TV Show Inspiration

Is your favourite TV show influencing our wedding choices? That would be a yes! From Georgian wedding venues, personalised wax seals and string quartets playing during ceremonies and drink receptions, we are seeing more of a beautiful blend of TV Shows such as The Crown and Bridgerton helping to set the tone!

Mixed Colours

We are especially seeing this within bridesmaids dresses and just within the wedding decor colour palette in general. From different tones of one colour and use of different primary colours, to wild flowers which incorporate all different colours. Many couples are opting for an ‘ombre’ bridesmaid dress effect, where the dresses go from dark to light for each bridesmaid, or going for completely different colours! For example, if you are having a pastel colour palette, every bridesmaid would be in a different colour from the palette. We are loving this option so had to add it to our 2024 wedding trends list!

Marquee & Outdoor Weddings

Outdoor weddings became increasingly popular after covid, as people were keen for their wedding to abide by the rules and for guests to be able to keep their distance. But we have seen this trend continue, with many couples seeing the benefits of being outdoors, within a blank canvas structure which you can then make your own.

Larger Numbers

Only back in 2022, we saw a trend of people opting for smaller celebrations after seeing and loving the stories of small, intimate celebrations in 2020 and 2021. We are now seeing the opposite, bigger parties, larger marquees and venues, and many couples not having separate evening guests, but having everyone for the full day. Our couples are definitely not cutting back on their guest list!

Weekend Celebrations

Full weekends are definitely on the rise and are a trend for 2024! From night prior drinks, to post wedding day brunches and celebrations, including BBQs and casual post wedding celebrations. Many of you may be thinking, really?! Something else to plan! But many venues will now offer the full weekend, so you can either all stay over and then ask your caterer to host the following day with something informal, or ask guests to come back the following day. It’s such a great opportunity to relax, extend those celebrations, and not have to feel like everything is rushed into one day, especially if guests have had to travel for your big day.

Autumn & Winter Weddings

I feel like Autumn and Winter weddings are really starting to become some of my favourites! Gone are the days when we had a wedding ‘season’, we are finding we have dates booked throughout the year – which is great! The perfect part of the autumn/winter 2024 wedding trend is the candlelight, which really adds the ambience to your day, and looks spectacular at this time of year as once you sit down for your wedding breakfast, the lighting is generally darker, which really makes the room look stunning! There is also so much less pressure weather wise, as you generally expect it to be bad weather, so a good weather day is a bonus!

Long Banqueting Tables

Long tables or banqueting tables are definitely becoming more popular over the years, and we are seeing a lot of our couples requesting them, hence them being one of our 2024 wedding trends! There are pros and cons to both long tables and rounds – just make sure if you are having long tables, you make sure that you don’t overdo it with the decor as you will have minimal space between place settings. Also, make sure you have a co-ordinator on the day to make sure those chairs are in line for your photos! Trust me, you will spot that slightly out of line chair!

Informal Dining

Not having a sit down meal is definitely becoming a bigger trend for 2024. Many couples are moving away from the sit down meal, having informal tables and options such as a BBQ or different food stations. Many are still opting for a sit down, but with more sharing style food to the tables, including ‘host a roast’ where you nominate one guest per table to carve the meat!

Celebrant Led Weddings

Many couples are starting to learn through the power of social media that there are other options now for their ceremonies, not just a legal registrar or a religious church service. Although non legal, having a celebrant or one of your friends to conduct your ceremony is so much more personal, and means you can read the words and the vows you want to, at such an important part of the day. You just need to pop over to the registry office before the big day and sign the legal paperwork, which costs minimal. You will need to arrange this and give your notice of marriage first.

Personal Weddings

We are seeing so many personal touches from couples, including stamped pictures of their own cats heads on napkins, fun, choreographed first dances, menus with the couple’s favourite foods, and tables named after the couple’s favourite things to do. The wedding day is all about you, so many sure you add touches of your personality, so your guests think, wow, this is really them! Cat napkins and cardboard cut outs on the dance floor definitely deserve to be a part of our 2024 wedding trends! Couples are deciding what they REALLY want and not just opting for traditions, like cutting a pig or cheese instead of cake!

Cocktail Hours

I mean, cocktails have always been popular – right?! But for 2024, we are definitely seeing couples using an experienced mixologist (vital!) to put on a cocktail hour, mixing their favourite flavours together and naming them something tailored to them, for their guests to enjoy as a popular wedding trend! Yum! You could either have a cocktail hour as part of your drinks reception, or after your wedding breakfast, before the evening party – this is always a good spot to incorporate it in to if you have a bit of down time before the band.

Party Vibes

We are wholeheartedly seeing the party vibes for 2024! From musicians throughout the day, their favourite shot on the couple’s arrival, getting rid of formalities and just generally getting down to the party! Couples are stripping back the formalities of the day to shorten parts, so they can really extend the evening entertainment!

Wild Flowers

So many couples are wanting the wild flower wedding trend for 2024, from oversized, loose arrangements, to random colours, and whatever flower you can find during that season. Using wildflowers is great for the environment, as they are accessible in the UK. Allowing your florist to use whichever flowers they feel works best means they don’t have to ship them in from another country. As well as being environmentally friendly, they also look stunning!
